Trinity Hall seeks an Athletic Director for the 2022 - 2023 academic year.
The school: Trinity Hall is an independent, all-girls school that educates and empowers young women in the Catholic tradition through an innovative college preparatory program grounded in our four core values of leadership, respect, perseverance, and faith. Trinity Hall prepares each student to achieve her full potential as she embraces her place in the world. Trinity Hall, which is located in Tinton Falls, NJ, serves students in Monmouth, Middlesex, and Ocean counties. Trinity Hall emphasizes an inquiry-based approach to learning in all of our academic courses, with a focus on critical thinking, problem solving and project-based learning to build collaboration, communication, and critical thinking within an academic community focused on a growth mindset.
The role: Trinity Hall’s outstanding athletic program supports the education of the young women in our care - mind, body, and spirit. The athletic director will provide visionary leadership and administrative oversight of all aspects of Trinity Hall’s athletic program. The athletic director ensures the athletic program fosters an environment of growth for each student-athlete, each coach, the athletic trainer, and the inaugural athletics administrative coordinator. Trinity Hall boasts 21 teams in 16 sports (fall, winter, spring seasons). Trinity Hall athletics has won numerous state championships, conference championships, division championships, and twice been named the best Non-Public B athletics program in NJ.
Primary responsibilities of the athletic director include:
- Leading by example and through dynamic programming to organize, supervise, evaluate and promote athletic programs and a culture of health and wellness for the Trinity Hall community.
- Reviewing and assessing prospective and current coaches in partnership with the head of school.
- Ensuring coaches’ proper understanding and training in all philosophical and organizational aspects of Trinity Hall athletics through orientation, annual training, and ongoing communication and support.
- Protecting the health and safety of all student-athletes (to include annual CPR, AED and first aid certification for coaches, faculty, and staff).
- Coordinating the athletics schedule, practice calendar, officiating, all programs, and effective internal communication, with the support of the athletic trainer and athletics administrative coordinator.
- Communicating all athletic program policies and expectations with student-athletes and parents; responding to questions and concerns as needed.
- Maintaining the safety and security of all students, and the appropriate maintenance of all athletic equipment and facilities.
- Overseeing the athletics program social media accounts and ensuring appropriate timely posts.
- Partnering with the communications and development teams to promote the success of individual student-athletes and the athletic program as a whole.
- Encouraging and guiding parent involvement and support of the athletic program as a whole and efforts to nurture team community
- Representing Trinity Hall at various state, regional, and national athletic associations.
- Serving as a member of the leadership team; supporting school-wide programming across all areas of the School (i.e., admissions, student activities, academics, etc.) with presence and practical support.
- Serving as a member of the student services team and advising the work of the student athletics council.
- Coordinating with the director of college counseling to facilitate recruiting processes and informational programming for student-athletes; assisting with understanding and navigating NCAA eligibility procedures.
- Reviewing and revising (if necessary) the coaches’ manual annually.
- Overseeing the distribution, collection, cleaning, repair, and storage of all athletic uniforms and equipment.
The athletic director ensures a spirit of open dialogue, responsiveness, and efficient communication, working as part of the athletics team and as a member of the leadership team. The athletic director reports to the head of school.
Successful candidates will have:
- A bachelor’s degree; master’s degree preferred in a relevant field
- Previous experience in the role of athletics director / a related athletics role in a school environment (secondary or collegiate preferred)
- Extensive work with young people and supporting the success of coaches and student-athletes
- Understanding of the developmental needs of adolescent girls and female athletes
- A passion for personal and community excellence, well-being, and growth
- Experience playing/coaching at the high school and/or collegiate level
- Exceptional communication skills to facilitate a robust athletic program and connect with all internal constituencies (students, parents, coaches, faculty, alumnae) and external partners effectively
- Effective organizational and technological skills
- Insight, flexibility and good humor to adapt to the unique needs of adolescent girls
- Willingness to work closely with colleagues and students in a dynamic, collaborative setting to meet the needs of the athletic program and school (to include weekend/evening work)
