Citizen Relations is an international, award-winning public relations and integrated communications agency with expertise in consumer technology, food & beverage, consumer packaged goods, travel & tourism, and automotive. Their knowledge and understanding of their clients’ businesses, and the industries in which they compete, allows Citizen Relations to accurately guide dialogue with employees, customers, and shareholders, and to better understand and recommend how their clients can live up to their values and promises. Diversity, equity, inclusion, and access (DEIA) are core principles that inform the agency’s culture and their work with clients, and the agency continually strives to actively address the cultural norms, practices, and decision-making structures that serve as barriers for historically excluded groups from having a seat at the proverbial table.
It is within this spirit that Citizen Relations is looking to fill the role of Senior Director—a position giving a successful candidate the opportunity to have an indelible impact on how the agency continues to connect iconic brands and citizens, often through the telling of stories that inspire action. This person will work on big consumer brands in the personal care and fashion sectors.
The Senior Director will be part of a growing team driven by a collaborative and entrepreneurial spirit. They will partner with creative and strategic specialists, presenting concrete campaign results against objectives. The successful incumbent will serve as lead day-to-day client contact for medium and/or multiple small accounts, building and nurturing client relationships while supporting their teams and management. They will take action while delegating appropriately in alignment with team members’ skills and growth needs. The successful candidate will drive the organic growth of accounts, also contributing to new business development by pursuing leads and developing campaigns. Finally, they will possess a thorough command of the social media and digital world, from evolving social web to mobile tools and trends.
The individual most likely to achieve success will have a passion for pop culture, social, and sports, working with precision and care for iconic brands. Guided by DEIA principles, the Senior Director will have interest and passion in training others and building knowledge across the organization. The successful candidate will ideally have a BS or BA in Public Relations or a related field, with 10+ years of relevant experience in communications marketing. They will bring a strong track record of media relations results and an eagerness to build new relationships with key journalists and media outlets. In addition to these abilities, they will have excellent leadership and teamwork skills as well as the ability to multitask and work independently. Finally, the incumbent will bring a natural inclination towards entrepreneurism, with analytical skills and the ability to write both strategically and creatively.

Is twofold: by working with clients to attract, develop, and retain a workforce truly representative of diverse populations, as global citizens we’ll build greater capacity to innovate while we meaningfully tackle some of the most pressing issues of our time. Since research has shown that companies inclusive of Black, Indigenous, and communities of colour perform better fiscally, aside from the moral argument around inclusivity our economy is not realizing its true potential when diversity at the executive level is lacking. Where racial diversity in organizations is lacking, BIPOC Executive Search Inc. can help.
Inspired by the work of the BlackNorth Initiative—an initiative calling on companies to ensure Black leaders hold a minimum of 3.5% executive and board roles by 2025—the BIPOC Executive Search team brings professional and lived experience to their recruitment discussions with Indigenous and racialized candidates. As many workplaces are steeped in historical and institutional structures often responsible for disenfranchising Indigenous and/or racialized hires, BIPOC Executive Search Inc. also provides a range of solutions, services, and training designed to improve inclusivity across organizations.
