Southwest Virginia Community College (SWCC) offers career-training programs in numerous technical, industrial and medical fields at a reasonable cost, going so far as to even waive tuition for certain eligible students.  Located in Richlands, Virginia, SWCC offers associateâ™s degrees in such fields as business, education, general studies, liberal arts and science. These degrees are primarily intended for students who wish to transfer to a four-year university.  SWCC also has associateâ™s degrees that feature programs intended to lead directly to a career in fields such as Nursing, Radiography and Administration of Justice.Southwest Virginia Community College located in Richlands, Virginia, is seeking a Sports Information Director for the Athletics Department. This position will report to the Athletic Director.Job duties include:Serves as institutional representative to the media for all athletic activitiesPlans, organizes, and coordinates media relations activitiesWrites and distributes newsletters, brochures, and reports to television and radio stations, newspapers, and magazinesResponds to various requests for team histories, photos, statistics, and related informationUploads statistics to website and NJCAAOther duties as assigned

⢠Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing⢠Skilled in the use of personal computers and related software applications⢠Ability to use independent judgment and to gather, manage and impart information to the media and various other internal and external audiences⢠Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials⢠Willingness to work nights and weekends⢠Media relations skills.⢠Knowledge of sporting press box procedures, techniques, facilities and equipment.⢠Must be knowledgeable of NJCAA regulations and must be committed to adhering to all NJCAA, VCCS, and institutional regulations⢠Valid driver's license⢠Knowledge of sporting press box procedures, techniques, facilities and equipment⢠High school diploma or GED required⢠Must be able to work under challenging physical conditions⢠Must be able to lift heavy items up to 50 pounds per OSHA standard
