Duties: The Social Media Specialist is responsible for the management of the Instituteâs social media platforms (current and future), including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn, the growth of these audiences, and furthering awareness of the VMI brand. Specifically, the Social Media Specialist will be expected to: Produce highly engaging and sharable content, such as short videos, infographics, photo essays and other pieces for VMIâs social channels.Utilize the latest creative technologies to connect with multiple audiences to include prospective and current cadets, families, faculty / staff, and alumni.Build collaborative relationships throughout VMI that lead to the development of non-traditional content packages that build brand awareness and attract top-tier cadets and faculty members.Monitor trends in content consumption and adapt channel content strategies to reach targeted audiences.Assist with the monitoring of content on VMIâs branded and departmental social channels to assure brand and message compliance.Work with all members of the VMI Communications and Marketing team to ensure timely communication of content is distributed on Institute social media accounts.Produce monthly channel reports on content performance using online metrics and be able to discuss with supervisor.Support the larger digital communications of VMI through projects and initiatives as determined by the Communications and Marketing team. The ideal candidate should be flexible, positive, quick-thinking, energetic, efficient, and able to work independently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail. Excellent interpersonal skills are a must, as this position requires interacting with other staff and faculty throughout the Institute, as well as cadets, alumni and others. Some evening and weekend work is expected for event coverage and monitoring of content channels.Â
