Purpose
Develop, direct, and implement communications and media relations efforts for a Texas Women’s Basketball program that has advanced to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament in each of the past two seasons. The position will manage all services related to the extensive local, regional and national media coverage for that that sport, work closely with Head Coach Vic Schaefer, the assistant coaching staff and student-athletes, as well as the support staff and creative team in maximizing all efforts to promote Longhorn Women’s Basketball, while serving as a critical conduit with radio and television broadcast teams as well as Texas’ media partners.
Responsibilities

Manage services related to local/regional/national media coverage for assigned sports, including media conferences. Supervise management and staffing of media work areas and coordinate media services during home/away/neutral-site events as primary SID contact for Women’s Basketball. Distribute/implement media credentials/access for home events in alignment with office policies.

Manage broadcast-specific services and requests as primary SID contact for Women’s Basketball.

Oversee production of electronic media source material geared towards publicizing the overall program and the student-athletes as primary SID contact for Women’s Basketball. Oversee game flip card content production for all home games.

Serve as the brand manager for assigned social media accounts, while consistently working together with our creative (social media, graphics, in-house video) staff to discuss/brainstorm/produce specific and quality content.

Serve as a key staff member in supporting and mentoring student assistants in the SID office.

Collaborate with marketing, fundraising and ticket offices regarding ticket sales, promotions, event coordination, fundraising and special events.

Serve as liaison for coaches and student-athletes with media and Big 12 Conference, NCAA and departmental contacts.

Drive a UT or rental vehicle on and off campus.

General Notes
Additional hours will be required to include early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays. Travel required. This job is not suitable for remote work and is expected to work regular on-site hours.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree. Minimum three years of full-time work experience in athletics communications, media relations, sports information, and/or sports public relations. Knowledge of NCAA rules and compliance issues as they pertain to publicity and promotional efforts. Must have exceptional interpersonal communications skills to include excellent current writing experience. Computer experience with Macintosh and PC computers using In-Design and Microsoft Word, and PC platform stat programs required. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, sports management, or related area. More than the required experience in athletics communications, media relations, sports information, and/or sports public relations. Professional experience working as a Women’s Basketball sports team communication contact. Previous work experience in professional or collegiate athletics sports programs. Experience working with StatCrew data entry. Experience serving as an editor on at least one publication. Extensive organizational skills and work experience managing several projects simultaneously. Experience as a website content writer/editor. Creative skills necessary to generate unique ideas for website coverage and social media platforms. Experience with Photoshop, including basic production of graphics.
