The Layton Aging & Alzheimer's Disease Research Center, in the Department of Neurology at OHSU, is an NIH/NIA-funded Alzheimers Disease Research Center (ADRC). Layton Center investigative teams participate in national and international efforts to understand and develop treatments for Alzheimers disease and other forms of dementia. Layton Center teams conduct studies of promising treatments, technologies for patient support, genetics, neuroimaging and pathology.
This position will be responsible for coordination of studies that are ancillary to the ADRC and make use of participants from the ADRC longitudinal studies. These include participants from the clinic longitudinal cohort, African American Dementia and Aging Project (AADAPt), Community Brain Donor Program (CBDP), Digital Technology Core (DTC), and others. Work will be split between the OHSU main campus and remote. Minimal conference or meeting travel is possible.
We are looking for someone who is highly organized, motivated, and able to communicate effectively and professionally (verbally, including by phone and video call, as well as in writing) with Alzheimers Center faculty and staff, other departments at OHSU, and with study participants.
Study coordinator responsibilities:
Recruiting, screening, consenting, and enrolling eligible participants for research studies
Preparing for and coordinating in-person and remote study visits including scheduling of study participants, study staff (including physicians and nurses), clinic space, and/or imaging appointments under general supervision
Remotely assisting Oregon Alzheimers Center study participants in getting set up for remote study visits and conducting study partner phone calls
Assisting with routine correspondence with the OHSU IRB related to required submissions, protocol modifications, and continuing reviews
Working with Principal Investigators on progress reports and publications related to studies they are coordinating
Ensuring that required Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) program trainings are complete, up to date, and renewed in a timely manner
Bachelors in relevant field OR Associates AND 2 years of relevant experience OR 3 years of relevant experience OR equivalent combination of training and experience
Working knowledge of scientific methods and human subjects research
Intermediate or advanced knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook, and other MS Office programs
Demonstration of high level of attention to detail; self starter; ability to prioritize work demands and manage time appropriately
Demonstrated high level of organization and ability to efficiently manage multiple tasks
Ability to speak and communicate clearly and demonstrate a high level of professionalism; ability to interact patiently and respectfully with elderly volunteers
Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to multi-task
Ability to walk participants to various on-campus locations for study visits
Experience working with seniors
Experience in human subjects research
Experience with basic troubleshooting of video conferencing software
