Works as part of the Government Affairs team to achieve the Association’s goals and strategic plan initiatives. Works with Government Affairs Director and members of the Government Affairs Committee and Political Action Committee to ensure maximum impact on local, state, and federal government. Exercises individual initiative to find creative solutions to problems as they arise and engages members to become involved in their local government and in the Association’s advocacy efforts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Tracks local news and government initiatives that affect the Association’s members and works to keep the Government Affairs Director updated on upcoming issues of interest to the Association
Help to coordinate monthly committee agendas, speaker recruitment, meeting arrangements and information dissemination, along with helping to manage monthly meetings
Develops informative content for the Association’s website, weekly eNewsletter, and on-demand stand-alone emails to membership
For department events, will plan and execute, draft communications, and work with committee volunteers to boost member participation
Works with Government Affairs Director to plan and execute annual candidate interviews for local elected offices and assists with formalizing committee recommendations for candidate funding for the PAC Board of Trustees to approve
Will be responsible for following current events (including but not limited to reading news articles, research, reaching out to and visiting with public officials) in the Triangle as they pertain to the real estate industry, and will work with Government Affairs Directors regarding any public policy issues
Facilitates planning and implementation of events, communications and other fundraising efforts as determined by the PAC Board of Trustees and in consultation with the Government Affairs Director
Background in government affairs, political campaigns, communications or a related field
Excellent written communication skills
Excellent organizational skills, ability to set priorities, manage multiple tasks and follow through with limited supervision
Ability to make informed and timely decisions
Ability to work collaboratively with others
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT
Sedentary/stationary position. Must be able to remain in stationary position for prolonged periods (up to 50% of time) with occasional movement around office environment.
