OverviewWorking with the Facilities and Operations Category Manager and Category Lead, the Category Analyst is responsible for supporting one or more related procurement category areas with the goal of improved customer satisfaction, achievement of greater efficiencies, reduction of risk, and realizing financial cost savings. In support of organizational mission and goals, the Category Analyst contributes to effective supplier performance management, customer relationship development, determination of customer needs, supplier diversity, contract creation, contract execution and contract renewals.
ResponsibilitiesRequired Education:Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
Preferred Education:Bachelor's Degree focus in Finance, Economics, or Supply Chain
Required Experience:2+ years related procurement experience, including experience with procurement, contract negotiation, customer relationship management and supplier relationship management. Experience with eProcurement technologies.
Preferred Experience:2+ years experience with strategic sourcing and competitive price analysis. Experience in higher education environment.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Ability to perform multiple assignments within a fast-paced customer service driven environment. Excellent problem solving, organizational and communication skills. Intermediate knowledge of standard office software, including financial and/or spreadsheet and database software. Proven ability to understand procurement operations, including payables processes. Demonstrated ability to effectively interact in a cross-functional environment with all levels of management. Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Advanced level of proficiency in Microsoft Office suite including PowerPoint and Excel.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM), Certified Professional Purchasing Managers (CPPM) or Certified Purchasing Professional (CPP). Must be well versed in quality data collection to ensure adequacy, accuracy and legitimacy of data in NYU systems and be able to strictly follow data privacy and security procedures for data handling and analysis to ensure adherence to legal and institutional standards.
