The City of Raymore, Missouri is looking for an enthusiastic, creative person who enjoys coordinating events, running summer camp programs and developing educational, fun programming for adults and children.

The Assistant Recreation Coordinator provides adult leadership, supervision, and professional curriculum development to youth day camp programs and community special events, ensuring participant safety and satisfaction as well as adherence to department policies and budget.

This is a limited term position through October 31, 2022.

• Will plan, implement and oversee assigned recreation programs including fitness, arts, special community events and Summer Camp.
• Assist in hiring and supervision of seasonal camp and programming staff.
• Plan, conduct, and evaluate on-the-job training of camp staff.
• Plans and supervises Summer Camp daily, weekly, and field trip schedules.
• Plan and conduct staff meetings.
• Recommend Summer Camp curriculum.
• Schedule camp counselors.
• Direct the preparation of site(s) for the activities assigned.
• Ensure that facilities and equipment are clean and prepared for the day’s activities.
• Enforce all facility and camp rules.
• Encourage camper and counselor attention to instruction.
• Encourage the development of honesty, integrity, and teamwork.
• Promote positive Public Relations with campers, parents, and the community.
• Prepare parent communication newsletters weekly.
• Immediately notify parents of incidents/accidents.
• Communicate with the assigned Coordinator regarding any concerns.
• Direct the setup/cleanup of program areas after use.
• Ensure the safety of participants during programs and offer first aid as necessary.
• Communicate program information to participants and participant feedback to department staff.
