Trinity Christian College seeks a full-time Assistant Director for Vocation and Student Transitions for the Cooper Center for Vocation, Career Development and Student Transitions.  Cooper Center staff members work to educate students toward meaningful vocation and professional preparation. The successful candidate supports the vision and work of the Cooper Center. This work extends from Trinity’s commitment to genuine education that engages the whole person as a thinking, believing and feeling creature, and is rooted in the Student Life Purpose and Outcomes. 

The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following:

1. Coordinate the orientation, on-boarding, and curriculum for newly enrolled students.
   1. Partner with Admissions, Residence Life, Student Engagement, Vocation/Career, and Athletics colleagues to plan the move-in experience and co-curricular orientation schedule.
   2. Coordinate and implement the 9 week-long FDN 101: Thrive (2- credit) course for new traditional first-time freshmen each fall; coordinate and implement the 4 week-long FDN 111: Transfer Orientation (1- credit) course for new transfer students each fall and spring.
   3. Recruit, hire, and supervise Student Interns and student mentors for FDN 101 and FDN 111; recruit and train faculty mentors for FDN 101 and FDN 111 course sections.
   4. Collaborate with Adult Undergraduate Programs to provide FDN 111 for Adult Programs students.
   5. Engage in supporting overall campus retention efforts, particularly with first- and second-year students.

2. Enhance career opportunities for Trinity students and graduates.
   1. Provide career development services to students such as self-assessments, workshops, career coaching, and resume preparation.
   2. Develop and disseminate information to the campus community regarding careers, internships, vocational discernment, and graduate school opportunities.
   3. Coordinate the scheduling of and hospitality for outside agencies and recruiters visiting campus.
   4. Assist in providing Career and Vocation programming to the campus, including Advising Days and events/seminars connected to FDN 101, FDN 111, and FDN 201.

3. Support students in their transitions to life beyond Trinity through administrative oversight of key processes in the Cooper Center for Vocation and Career Development.
   1. Coordinate the collection and development of accurate and up-to-date metrics regarding graduate career outcomes (first destination data) according to Federal standards for all departments of the college.
   2. Administer job postings through Handshake; respond to inquiries from employers.
   3. Partner with the Director in supervising and evaluating vocation and career Student Ambassadors.

4. Other Communication and Collaboration:
   1. Participate in college-wide events to promote the goals and mission to serve first-year students (e.g. Admitted Students Day/OPUS, Blueprints, Visit Days).
   2. Collaborate with a variety of campus offices, including Alumni & Family Engagement, Residence Life, and Multicultural Engagement, to provide programming and support connected to issues of vocation and transition.
   3. Serve as a member of Trinity’s Care Team and other committees as appropriate.
   4. Participate in broader organizations within First Year Experience and/or Career Development (such as the College Career Consortium of Illinois) for professional development and increased opportunities for Trinity students, as time allows.

5. Other duties as assigned.

This position will supervise student interns and mentors as well as Cooper Center student ambassadors.

A Master’s degree and experience within higher education, either academic or student life, is required.  Other qualifications include professional expertise and integrity, demonstrated administrative and organizational skills, strengths in oral, written and digital communication, marketing and public relations, including confidence in public speaking.  Also, a deep appreciation for and understanding of a robust, holistic approach to vocation as a joyful response to God’s calling with a strong desire to be part of a highly-collaborative, joy-filled workplace that is unwaveringly committed to students.
