American Family Ventures (AFV) is a multi-limited partner, early stage venture capital firm focused on the future of insurance. AFV is investing out of its $213 million third fund. Limited partners represent over $100 billion in assets and over $25 billion in annual premiums spanning most major lines of insurance. Over the past eight years, AFV has invested over $200 million in 65+ startups with 17 exits. Current portfolio companies include Clearcover, Branch, Wyze, Sana Benefits, Hover, HomeTap, Gradient AI, and many others.
With the upcoming launch of our fourth fund, AFV is expanding our team. We are looking for an exceptional, self-directed, highly organized Platform Associate to join the AFV Platform team. The right candidates come with strong communication skills, creative ideas, a high level of motivation, and eagerness to help investors, startups, and fellow AFV team members travel the path of insurance innovation.

Job Description:
Responsibilities
This position will lead activities related to coordinating events, fund network management, and communications. Detailed responsibilities include:
Event Management
- Design and executive high-caliber events that foster community among AFV Limited Partners, portfolio companies, co-investors, and the broader AFV network
- Support AFV events through invitation/RSVP management, promotional productions (print, digital, social), day-of management including ad hoc and VIP needs, event follow-up, performance analysis, budget reconciliation, and supply inventory management
- Create, manage, and maintain guests lists and databases for AFV events
- Research, compile, and manage venues and vendors, including contract negotiations and execution, keeping budget top of mind
- Periodically travel for in-person events and meetings, and execute events in evenings and weekends as needed
- Regularly analyze and recommend ways to improve the AFV event experience through digital and in-person tools, methods, and innovations
Fund Network Management
- Using a CRM as well as interpersonal skills, develop, organize, and actively manage AFV's broad network of relationships, anticipating the need to expand into areas of investing or insurance subject matter expertise
- Partner with AFV's Investments team to identify new intermediaries and referral resources across various geographic areas
- Collaborate with the Investor Relations Director to proactively identify opportunities and sources for business development enhancements for investors, Limited Partners, and portfolio companies
- Contribute research to a variety of projects with investors, Limited Partners, and portfolio companies
Communications
- Identify conferences, seminars, and other networking events that will continue to raise AFV's profile among relevant audiences
- Internalize AFVs investment philosophy, investment criteria, portfolio companies, and value-add capabilities, and help communicate them across various platforms
- Manage special projects and ad hoc requests in collaboration with members of the AFV Platform team
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years events management or marketing experience; venture capital, early stage startup, or PR event experience is a strong plus
- Experience in successfully producing and scaling conferences and meetings, potentially at the executive level
- Proficiency in modern software and platforms (e.g., Microsoft suite)
- Strong project management skills and autonomous solution-oriented thinking
- 4-year college degree at a top academic institution is strongly preferred

Travel Requirements
- This position requires travel 10- 25% of the time.
