Dumbarton Oaks in Washington, DC is seeking a Digital Content Editor to join the Communications Team to maintain and augment the institution's website. Reporting to the Communications Manager, this position works on multiple projects concurrently and collaborates with colleagues and stakeholders throughout the institution. The person in this role thrives on a sense of ownership and takes pride in administrating timely, interesting, and accurate content, and should demonstrate initiative; problem solving, and scrupulous attention to detail. They should also have experience with managing multiple projects with various timelines. This position requires someone who is a natural collaborator with strong interpersonal and communication skills—working closely with various individuals and assisting non-technical staff to achieve their project goals.
Manage, curate, and execute institutional requests for addition and updating of web content according to departmental workflow.
Optimize and upload text, images, captions, photo credits, and copyright and permission information.
Manage website and social media analytics, reviewing processes regularly to assess and make recommendations for improvements according to best practices.
Manage and prioritize multiple projects concurrently to provide accurate schedule and budget estimates and meet required project deadlines while maintaining quality standards.
Establish a regular procedure to review, update, maintain, and archive content as needed.
Proactively suggest updates and improvements to ensure accurate, timely, and interesting content and to promote optimal use of the CMS.
Collaborate with various stakeholders to assist them in determining the best project designs to utilize the current CMS to meet project goals.
Review and conduct periodic accessibility and usability testing to improve and ensure website structure, navigability, and usability.
Manage the contracted web support team for software updates and improvements as well as development for new projects.
Conduct testing and implementation as part of development and upgrade strategies.
Researching and implementing trends and best practices for scholarly web content.

Minimum Bachelor's degree with solid training in web-based systems
Minimum three years' experience with a content management system (CMS)-based website;
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, browser-based user interfaces
Basic image manipulation (using Adobe Photoshop/Adobe Creative Suite), and basic understanding of image end-use standards
Experience with maintaining various metadata standards
Experience in an academic, scholarly, communications, or marketing environment
Experience with multimedia in a CMS environment
Experience with Plone a strong advantage
Experience with HTML, XML and XHTML encoding a plus
Experience working with open-source software
Knowledge of cross-platform data sharing and compatibility
Experience with metadata standards
Strong understanding of SEO, accessibility requirements, and usability standards
