Job Description:Recruit and enroll students into the undergraduate nursing programs at Mount Saint Mary's University. Provide enrollment support for other undergraduate transfer pathways within TUG and WEOC.
Duties/Responsibilities:- Represent MSMU at community college and other specialty fairs to recruit students for the undergraduate nursing and transfer pathways within TUG and WEOC. This includes managing all travel arrangements within a stipulated budget.
- Plan, coordinate and execute recruitment events for prospective students, including regular information sessions on both campuses.
- Work closely with and support prospective students and applicants through the admission process via telephone, email, and personal contact throughout the course of the admission cycle.
- Evaluate admission applications and supporting documents (i.e. school transcripts, test scores, references, essays) for all undergraduate Nursing programs. Assist with these responsibilities for transfer pathways within TUG and WEOC as needed.
- Provide regular reports, including data analysis, on recruitment and enrollment status.
- Establish and maintain communication flows with inquiries and applicants as appropriate.
- Participate in Admission Office and relevant MSMU events throughout the year.
- Cultivate positive relationships with staff at community colleges, hospitals and clinics so they can partner with the University in generating applications for admission.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Work closely and collegially with Academic Advisement staff, , Nursing Program Directors and Faculty, Financial Aid Staff, Registrar and other MSMU staff as appropriate.
- Actively participate in Admission Office staff meetings and Nursing Department planning meetings.
- Participate in professional association meetings (e.g. Western Association of College Admissions Counselors) when appropriate.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:Knowledge: - Working knowledge of the structure of college admissions and of the higher education system (public, private, local, national, international, 2-year, 4-year) ; analysis of transcripts and standardized admission tests; and the role of an Associate of Arts degree versus a Bachelor's degree.
- Knowledge of the healthcare industry and nursing profession desired.
- Understanding of financial aid policies and procedures is helpful.
- Familiarity with Slate CRM desired.
Abilities and Skills: - Able to exercise sound judgement, discretion, and initiative to address problems and develop practical though creative solutions.
- Consistently meet deadlines.
- Effectively manage multiple projects and follow through to completion.
- Demonstrate professionalism and comfort in speaking to groups and individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Work well alone and in a team.
- Exercise excellent organizational ability, prioritization, customer service, oral/written communication, as well as interpersonal, public relations and presentation skills.
- Possess high energy level along with patience and flexibility.
- Willing and able to conduct out-of-area recruitment travel.
- Possess a valid California driver's license and reliable vehicle.
- Good sense of direction and ability to navigate.
Education: - Bachelor's degree required.
Experience: - One to two years' experience working in an institution of higher learning (e.g. in counseling, admission or as a teacher/faculty member) or other related field.
