SORORITY AND FRATERNITY LIFE (BL-SACT-IUBLA)
The Division of Student Affairs is focused on building a strong foundation to ensure every student's IU experience is positive, safe, healthy, and meaningful. The Division of Student Affairs staff and 19 departments aim to help students navigate their time at IU, providing the tools they need to be successful in school and after graduation. Provides advising support for officers within the four fraternity/sorority governing councils and a portion of the 66 individual chapters.
Serves as primary advisor to the fraternity and sorority councils including the Panhellenic Association (PHA), Interfraternity Council (IFC), National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) and Multi-Cultural Greek Council (MCGC).
Assists chapters by providing support in the areas of risk reduction, leadership development, accountability, academic program support, community service and philanthropy events and programs, crisis management, documentation, and university policy interpretation.
Administers applicable campus policies and procedures.
Provides emergency response and crisis intervention to the fraternity/sorority community, when needed.
Assists with the development and implementation of two major OSFL signature programs.
Fosters student learning, development, and enhanced educational experiences through direct service interventions (advising, meeting, officer support).
Meets one-on-one with students, advisors, and alumni volunteers 30-minute sessions and/or 1-hour advising appointments, as needed.
Works effectively with a broad range of diverse population including freshmen to seniors, graduate students, international students, and non-traditional students.
Provides appropriate referrals for students to other offices or agencies when assistance needed is beyond scope of responsibility.
Assists in hiring, training, and development of undergraduate staff and graduate practicum students and/or interns.
Develops and implements programs and initiatives geared at improving student engagement and involvement outcomes at the program, department/division, or campus level.
Interfaces directly with students, attending student life events and programs and gathering satisfaction feedback from student participants to implement into future student life initiatives and objectives.
Collaborates with staff in own department and other departments, as well as student organization leaders, on shared student life goals, often coordinating funding to sponsor student life initiatives.
Measures and evaluates effectiveness of student life initiatives against projected outcomes; regularly prepares reports and presents to stakeholders on effectiveness and to secure funding for initiatives moving forward.
Provides guidance to student organizations regarding operations, budget, leadership, activities, recruitment, registration, policies, and compliance. Promotes leadership and student development through advising of individual student leaders and volunteers. Contributes to formation, interpretation, and implementation of student organization policies.
Plans and coordinates communications for student life initiatives to ensure student participation and inclusion.
May provide guidance to other Student Life Specialists; makes process recommendations to manager for improved delivery of service.
Bachelor's degree in public affairs, public health, counseling, social work, education, business, or a related field.
Master's degree in higher education student affairs or a related field.
2 years of experience in student services, higher education, or a related field.

Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation. May need to occasionally attend events/meetings after business hours or on weekends.
