We're looking for an Associate Director of Public Relations to join our Strategic Communications team. In this role you will develop, execute, and assess proactive communications strategy aimed at enhancing our brand and elevating our reputation on a local, national, and global scale. You will partner with the Director of Strategic Communications to collaborate with other department leaders on strategic school-wide communications initiatives.
You will bring media relations experience, creativity, and an ability to thrive in an environment that requires thinking about the big picture while also managing a steady flow of inquiries and requests. You're confident and comfortable working with reporters on deadline. You have excellent judgment and you are able to understand the varied perspectives of a diverse set of constituents. You have experience in integrating earned media initiatives into broader communications campaigns. You have strong collaboration skills, and the ability to partner across the GSB on initiatives and campaigns.
Your primary responsibilities include:
Participate in the development of strategic communication plans, including long- and short-term goals, with methods of measuring the plan's impact on, and contribution to, the program and school.
Help plan, oversee and execute school-wide proactive media relations campaigns.
Build relationships with faculty members to develop a plan to promote faculty thought-leadership and research to external audiences and media outlets.
Leverage relationships with key reporters and editors, media, community and/or government leaders to secure media opportunities, and drive coverage for the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
To be successful in this position, you will bring:
Bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience.
Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
Ability to humanize complex ideas and make them relevant.
Strong influencing, negotiating, and relationship management skills.
Proven ability to maintain and leverage relationships with journalists and media outlets.
