WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
A self-starter, flexible thinker and outstanding communicator to join our NIKE Trademark & Design team as a Paralegal. In this role, you will play a critical role in building and protecting one of the world’s most recognizable and inspirational brands. To be successful, you must be someone who has a desire to take the initiative to learn new things, comfortable working cross functionally on multiple matters, and an ability to influence different personalities and perspectives.
What will you work on?
You will assist in leading the NIKE, and CONVERSE global trademark, copyright, and domain name portfolio. Join an impactful collaborative team. With your paralegal colleagues and associate trademark attorneys, the Trade Mark Paralegal will:
Conduct and analyze global trademark searches in collaboration with associate Lawyers to identify availability of trademarks, taglines, product names, logos, and other consumer facing content
Review product and packaging graphics for trademark, design and copyright issues
Work with trademark Lawyers to provide risk analysis and guide clients regarding proper use of trademarks
Identify legal issues in connection with product and sustainability claims, licensing, public relations, sports marketing, and contests. Collaborate with trademark experts in these areas as needed to ascertain if further analysis is required.
Handle day to day prosecution of domestic and foreign trademark and copyright applications in partnership with Lawyer
Collaborate with Lawyers to lead trademark opposition and cancellation actions, including review of watch notices and gathering of evidence and coming with a point of view associated with next steps
Present trademark and copyright training to small and large groups
Actively participate in special projects, including establishing key strategies, guidelines, processes and procedures, to enable the Trademark & Copyright team to provide best in class service to its business partners
Who you will work with?
This role is located at our Beaverton World Headquarters. Together with your paralegal colleagues and partnering trademark attorneys, you will work with business groups across all of Nike.
WHAT YOU BRING TO NIKE?
Bachelor's degree or higher or Combination of relevant education, experience and training. Paralegal certificate is preferred
Minimum of 3 years experience as a trademark paralegal in a law firm or corporate law department required
Ability to use internet-based trademark search databases (e.g., Saegis, Corsearch) for domestic and international searches, including experience with design codes Experience with domain name and copyright law a plus
Experience with trademark management systems required (Anaqua preferred)
Experience creating impactful training materials using PowerPoint preferred
Excellent written and oral communication skills required
Able to effectively manage and prioritize a high-volume workload and prioritizes to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work independently
