The College of Engineering is seeking a Digital Communications Specialist. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE), 12-month, professional faculty position.
The Digital Communications Specialist (DCS) reports to the Marketing and Communications Coordinator/Strategist and is a member of the marketing and communications group, which is responsible for developing and implementing the college's brand messaging. This position is part of a fast-paced, hands-on team that produces compelling and creative content to help move the college's many stakeholders — alumni, donors, industry partners, state and federal government entities, prospective students, and other engineering schools — toward stronger relationships (i.e., opinion, perception, and affinity) with the college and thereby increasing brand visibility, reputation, and loyalty.
The DCS utilizes specialized technical expertise in user experience, content management systems, marketing automation platforms, information management systems, and customer relationship management systems to plan, create, and distribute high-quality digital marketing and communications content to advance the college's priorities in recruitment, academic influence, and alumni/donor engagement. Digital channels include but are not limited to electronic newsletters, emails, digital publications, and digital advertising. The DCS may own their work products or contribute to other team members' projects. The DCS also assists in producing social media and web content as assigned. The DCS manages distribution lists, gathers analytics to report on effectiveness of campaigns, and produces templates for digital communications.
Typically requires Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism or related field. 3 years' experience related to the discipline of the college, unit or department.
Bachelor's degree in digital or new media communications, marketing, or related field.
Five years of experience in producing and distributing digital content and measuring and evaluating the effectiveness of that content, or a combination of experience and advanced education that demonstrates comparable background.
Excellent technical knowledge of user experience, content management systems, marketing automation platforms (e.g., Act-On, Mailchimp), information management systems for admissions and enrollment management (e.g., Slate by Technosolutions), customer relationship management systems (e.g., Ellucian CRM Advance, Microsoft Dynamics CRM), and relevant software and tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Cloud) to produce and distribute digital content.
Demonstrated organizational, project management, and analytical skills.
Evidence of successful collaboration with internal team members and external stakeholders.
Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
A record of learning about diverse constituents of the organization and its external audiences and translating that cultural intelligence into inclusive digital communications that reflect their realities.
