The Graphic and Multimedia Designer is a key member of the Advancement team in the College of Design. Advancement is composed of alumni relations, development, and internal and external communications and marketing. This position works with stakeholders from across the college to create a variety of graphic materials for print and electronic media. The Graphic and Multimedia Designer also supports content providers on the college website and plays a primary role in ensuring visual continuity of the website and print media. The position reports to the Director of Communications.

Graphic Design (75%)
Partner with the communications director and colleagues to create original, high-quality concepts, designs, and layouts for print and web.
Create and modify images, graphics, and illustrations; develop and implement graphic identities and marks.
Work with communications director to coordinate graphic identities and branding across programs, media, and platforms.
Provide creative direction for college magazines, newsletters, brochures, digital displays, and exhibits.
Build, prepare, and release files for print production; manage relationships with vendors (e.g., printers).
Reviews designs of others and ensures consistency not only with college and University visual identity standards but with efforts to support the inclusion and retention of BIPOC, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and members of other underinvested communities.
Maintain design standards and documentation of practices/processes/procedures.
Web and Multimedia Development (25%)
Partner with the web communications associate and communications director to analyze specific client needs and design, develop, and maintain college website.
Partner with lead photography technician to design, develop, and create promotional and educational photos and videos.
Partner with the web communications associate to understand website functionality needs and underlying technical requirements.
Other duties as assigned.
This is a 100%-time, 12-month, continuous civil service position with a job classification of M&C Pro 2-Graphic&Vis Des (job code #8342GD).
BA/BS plus at least two years of experience or a combination of related education and work experience to equal at least six years.
Demonstrated experience in graphic, web and multimedia design and implementation using appropriate application software and development tools.
High level of knowledge in current graphic design software (e.g. Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Adobe XD, Figma etc.).
Commitment to the University’s goals that encourage equality and diversity including working effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
Demonstrated understanding of HTML5, CSS3, responsive design, ADA compliance, browser compatibility issues.
Eye for design and familiarity with design and composition principles.
Experience writing or editing of web publications.
High level of knowledge in current web technologies, content management systems, and multimedia software (e.g. Drupal, SalesForce, etc.).
Excellent written and verbal communication and customer service skills.
