1. Proactively raise Yale's profile in major media outlets. 2. Plan and lead targeted media relations campaigns that are tied to the university's pillars. 3. Play a key role in working to identify opportunities for pitching the media and effectively responding to a large volume of media inquiries on a daily basis.4. Manage a set of departmental beats and serve as primary media contact for faculty members in those departments. 5. Play a key role in working with Director, University Media Relations to manage communications crises.6. Regularly engage with faculty members in assigned departments to identify newsworthy story ideas.7. Coach and help guide junior level staff on professional development.8. Manage and implement the proactive media relations strategy for gaining positive placements about Yale in the media. 9. Develop and maintain relationships with local, national, and international media outlets as well as individual journalists poised to tell various aspects of Yale's story. 10. Facilitate the connection between key Yale faculty and relevant journalists.11. Provide research and analysis of reporter coverage of Yale.12. Manage incoming media inquiries and write compelling pitches and prepare Yale experts for broadcast, print, and radio interviews, including through on-camera media training. 13. Play a key role in assisting the Director, University Media Relations with responses to crises, including help with writing statements and talking points.14. Create and manage media relations strategies for each assigned beat15. Representing OPAC, serve on the Emergency Operations Committee16. Develop a process for proactively pitching reporters within assigned beats17. Organize Yale Media Relations Council meetings to regularly connect with communications colleagues across disciplines.18. Regularly collaborate with colleagues within and outside of OPAC to amplify positive Yale stories. 19. Manage press conferences for major announcements, e.g., Nobel Prizes.20. Partner with documentary and media film crews wishing to film on campus.21. Partner with writers to execute communications plans for campus initiatives and/or academic work; 22. Partner with multimedia content creators to present multimedia stories to media representatives across all channels.23. Provide communications support for special programs or projects as assigned, such as commencement, reunions, fundraising, symposia, and official campus visits.24. Collaborate with campus communicators around the university.25. Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
