Major duties for the Annual Fund and Communications Manager include but are not limited to direct mail solicitations, donor/school communications, online communications, events, and completion of administrative tasks incidental to the position.
The Annual Fund and Communications Manager will successfully develop, plan, execute, and evaluate a comprehensive annual giving program. This will include implementing strategic stewardship activities that support the annual fund including direct mail solicitations, online giving, and support for department events and fundraising efforts.
In addition, will plan, create, and deliver all mass communications on behalf of SEM via social media, email, and print.
Buffalo Seminary is an independent day and boarding high school for college-bound girls. In partnership with the Director of Institutional Advancement, develop a comprehensive annual fundraising plan that addresses the interests and capabilities of each of the donor groups related to SEM: community donors, alumnae, event participants, online donors, foundations and corporations.
On a monthly and ongoing basis, analyze the success of all fund development efforts by appeal categories, and discuss with the Director of Institutional Advancement.
Develop an appropriately sized and profitable direct mail program that supports industry best practices, including the detailed segmentation of mailing lists, the collection of analytical data and integration with online giving programs. Manage mailings that promote SEM’s work such as annual reports, news, etc.
Establish a “moves management” system that provides Head of School and Director of Institutional Advancement with qualified prospective donors, and informs and tracks donor cultivation and solicitation activities, with metrics to support and demonstrate effectiveness in meeting program goals.
Promote recurring giving, such as monthly and quarterly donations, across all SEM fundraising activities.
In partnership with other Development staff, ensure the success of signature fundraising event, especially regarding logistics, ticketing, promotion, donor services, and integrating the event into the Annual Fund plan. Support other SEM events.
Develop an online giving program to raise funds from supporters via the internet using email, a blog and Facebook as the primary modes of communication.
Work closely with the Head of School, Director of Admissions and Director of Institutional Advancement to devise a comprehensive communications, marketing, and public relations plan, including integrating communications activities with fundraising and enrollment objectives.
Draft and produce written communication to donors on various topics including invitations, solicitations, acknowledgements, and news updates.
Manage inventory of donor communications materials, admission materials and update supply as needed. Review and edit written materials produced in the school.
Create, collect and develop content for SEM promotional activities, such as student, alumnae and donor stories, event invitations, SEM news, etc.
