We are excited to be recruiting a Manager, Media Relations & Communications (Departments of Surgery and Medicine) who is passionate about leveraging marketing and communications capabilities to position MSK as a leader in cancer treatment, patient care, and research.
Reporting to our Senior Director, Media & Public Relations, you will:
Highlight MSKs surgeons, medical oncologists and clinical leadership by pursuing national and local media relations activities.
Prepare MSK clinicians and researchers for top-tier, consumer and trade interviews through media training, general guidance and the sharing of best practices.
Draft press releases, announcements, and other communications materials related to updates and advances in the Departments of Surgery and Medicine.
Acts as a real-time, deadline-oriented liaison between the Departments of Surgery and Medicine and members of the Communications team to facilitate media interviews or other digital communications projects and priorities.
Work collaboratively with Marketing & Communications colleagues in Content & Editorial, Special Events, Internal Communications, Social Media, and other functions to by regularly sharing stories and ideas, developing content, and amplifying stories about MSKs experts and innovations across integrated channels and capabilities.
Support the planning and execution of patient and/or employee-facing special events on topics related to surgery and medicine; maintain and implement an editorial calendar and support the coordination of participants, audience targeting, content, and format.
Liaise with faculty and staff of the Departments of Surgery and Medicine to identify practice-changing advances and innovations, scholarly publications, patient stories, and other information that illustrates the quality of MSK Care. Support initiatives to advance communications goals, including news items, biographical statements, digital multimedia storytelling, press releases, social media, and more.
5-8+ years of experience in media relations, communications, and related fields, preferably with experience supporting healthcare clients, in-house or at an agency.
Comfort and literacy in health and cancer topics; proven ability to translate complex subject matter in these areas for lay audiences.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
A collaborative spirit, solution-oriented mindset, and the ability to communicate with multiple stakeholders.
Comfort with advising leadership and C-level executives on Marketing & Communications best practices.
The ability to multi-task multiple complex initiatives at once, manage priorities, and deliver work on deadline.
