Acts as a key partner in developing and implementing direct marketing solicitation strategies using industry best practices for achieving annual giving goals through direct mail, email, web, telemarketing, and social media channels.
Works with manager and team to develop and implement targeted and highly personalized full-cycle integrated solicitation strategies.
Edits solicitations and communication pieces to ensure intended strategy is followed, and steward and guide other written material as needed.
Leads in testing discussion by channel using industry standard metrics to improve response results continuously.Â
Reviews and reports on progress to goal by monitoring donor and gift activity; adjusts strategy where necessary.
Provides management of staff responsible for production and follow through of fundraising strategy. Sets clear goals and expectations. Conducts regular review of direct marketing strategies, metrics, reporting and solicitation efforts. Interview, hire, train, manage, develop, evaluate and terminate staff as needed.
Leads and guides annual giving officers of our partner grad schools and affiliations on the most effective use of mass solicitation strategies.
Develops and maintains client relationships with various University constituencies, to increase annual revenue, key participation metrics and overall engagement with the University.
Directly manages or oversees all annual giving marketing materials for partners with oversight and coordination for, but not limited to: unit marketing strategies and their project management, budget usage on mail, communicating results on campaigns and developing best practices for reporting to those partners on a quarterly basis. Oversees the production process for all College and unit direct marketing.

Uses research on alumni giving patterns to improve solicitation techniques, segmentation and predictive analytics to support annual goals of both direct response and the overall Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving team.
Gathers information and solicitation data sets, prepares reports, strategizes and analyzes progress and results. Analyzes renewal, retention and acquisition rates.
Implements solicitation strategy to meet objectives. Meets regularly with various University constituents to update progress to annual giving goals.
Seeks opportunities for professional development that will enhance job performance, including building networks within the University and with colleagues at peer institutions.
Ensures quality control when monitoring various marketing channels by developing a targeted strategy for solicitation and marketing materials as well as campaign appeals, solving a range of moderately complex problems as they arise.
May collaborate with some divisions and schools, and relays information regarding capacity and inclination to give the appropriate channels in the University through knowledge of the University process.
Performs other related work as needed.
A minimum of five years of professional work experience in nonprofit management, development, alumni relations, marketing, public relations, sales or similar professional work experience.
Background leading a project team or managing staff
A minimum of one year of experience planning and managing programs.
A minimum of one year of experience developing and monitoring budgets.
Technical Skills or Knowledge:
Demonstrated skill and knowledge of, or ability to learn quickly, the internal workings of the University as well as the technology tools available to the Office of Alumni Relations and Development, including Griffin (the University's Donor Relationship Management System), Microsoft Windows computer environment, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.
Outstanding interpersonal and communications skills characterized by the ability to listen, to speak, and to write effectively.
