The Graphic Designer II, under the supervision of the Marketing Manager, supports various projects for the Office for Marketing and Communications and needs of the university, including but not limited to designing and editing graphics/photos for use in multimedia, websites, print, large-format advertising, and special events.
Creation of logos and designs that Â adequatelyÂ brand new programs
Enhances and manipulates photographs, including color correction and photo cut outs.
Oversees the design of multiple e-newsletters
Converts complex conceptual information and written material into persuasive, functional, and informative visuals that effectively and simply convey key information
Translates concepts into visual representations at meetings and brainstorming sessions
Â Collaborates with internal departments Â on communication projects to meet strategic objectives
Creates and executes original design concepts ; prepares camera-ready artwork according to vendor specifications for commercial print jobs and imprinted promotional itemsÂ
Assists with the planning and design of university publications, collateral materials, and direct mail piecesÂ . Collateral can include: website graphics, brochures, publications, ads, postcards, presentations, calendars, posters, invitations, folders, billboards, etcâ¦
Serves as a primary liaison with vendors to provide cost and time estimates for design, print and web collateral,Â and reviews printed materials to ensure quality control.Â Â
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelorâ™s degree in an applicable field.
Two years of related experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Ability to balance multiple projects and deadlines.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Bachelorâ™s degree in Graphics Design or Fine Arts.
Two years of related experience in graphics design, web development, print and electronic media or related design field.
Highly Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite.Â
Strong understanding of print and electronic advertising, brand development, and multi-channel marketing.
Understanding of design, copy, and web best practices/guidelines.
Ability to communicate ideas and concepts effectively.
Highly proficient in all aspects of graphic design, includingÂ drawing/sketching, illustration, typography, color theory, and technicalÂ applications.
Demonstrated ability to lead multiple projects and timelines at once.
