The Assistant Director of Communications is responsible for supporting recruitment and enrollment efforts through print and email communication, social media, blogging, and the website. This includes management, creation, and analysis of email campaigns for leads, admitted students, high school counselors, and parents and family of admitted students. This role is dedicated to promoting Portland State University, promoting admissions and events, and building engagement throughout the admissions funnel to increase enrollment.
The Assistant Director will collaborate with the Communications team, Admissions Recruitment team, Campus Visits team, Orientation Coordinator, and campus partners including Housing & Residence Life, Advising, the University Honors College, academic departments, and other student services to support appropriate communications to prospective students about PSU's services throughout the new student lifecycle.
The Assistant Director supervises a Campus Visits Coordinator who manages the day-to-day operations of the University Welcome Center, a Communications Technologist who executes email campaigns in the CRM and campaign analysis, a Graduate Assistant Content Specialist responsible for managing the Admissions Blog and other digital content (i.e. website and email campaigns), and a Student Employee Social Media and Graphic Design Specialist.
Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university and three years of professional experience in marketing, public relations, or a related field OR seven years of years of professional experience in marketing, public relations, or a related field.
Two years of experience writing or editing professional communications disseminated to large external audiences.
Capacity for independent work and problem solving.
Ability to multitask, prioritize, pay close attention to detail, and meet deadlines for a variety of simultaneous projects.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, or related field.
Demonstrated knowledge and skills using Drupal or other CMS and web design best practices.
Demonstrated knowledge and skills with Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop, and InDesign.
Experience using email marketing services such as MyEmma, Hubspot, or other CRM.
Professional experience in higher education.
Demonstrated experience evaluating campaigns and websites using reporting tools, testing, and data analysis.
