COVID-19 temporary adjustments: The Cal Alumni Association is preparing for our return to the office in advance of the fall semester. Staff will be expected to work a hybrid schedule, with some jobs required to work onsite a majority of the time depending on job duties. Alumni data is one of the most valuable resources available to the Cal Alumni Association (CAA), an affinity-based nonprofit organization serving the University of California, Berkeley. Our business analysts are responsible for cultivating the integrity of alumni data to effectively reach target audience segments and support data-driven business decisions. We are seeking a team-oriented Associate Business Analyst to deliver highly targeted audience segments that support email and direct mail marketing campaigns, and to play a key role in providing input on our data strategy.

Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline and 2–3 years experience in an analyst function, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience
Advanced-level Excel (vlookups, macros, pivot tables, etc.) and SQL experience, writing complex queries and manipulating large sets of data
Experience working with relational databases and processing confidential and sensitive information
Solid understanding of report development; ability to apply logic to query filters, outline output columns, and perform QA
Reliability to accurately fulfill data requests and ensure their completion on or ahead of deadline
Ability to work independently and effectively communicate with end-users
Ability and willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends to support CAA and campus-wide events in addition to assigned work shift.
Must submit to and pass driving record, consumer report, and FBI/DOB fingerprint background investigations.
Additional Salary Information: This is a full-time, exempt job with a pay range of $55,000 – $60,000 per year. The job is eligible to participate in healthcare benefits, a retirement plan with company match, and generous vacation and holiday time-off. The position is located at our offices in Berkeley, CA.
