The Zuckerman Institute is seeking a communications wiz to help inform, engage and inspire our scientific and administrative communities. Reporting directly to the Internal Communications Associate, the candidate will create and execute creative, strategic communications campaigns for both print and digital projects. The candidate will help to enhance the dynamic and thriving Institute culture through communications, programming and new technologies. We are looking for a natural problem solver who isnâ€™t afraid of a challenge, as this is a lean team with a portfolio of diverse projects. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Work with the Internal Communications Associate to
craft internal communications strategies that advance the Instituteâ€™s priorities
develop an internal communications strategy that facilitates the flow of information among researchers and staff
Create, curate and publish communications materials across multiple platforms
Translate complex language and ideas into easy-to-understand text and visuals
Manage and maintain the internal website, updating information on a consistent basis and ensuring the technology stays up-to-date
Engage and liaise with administrative and scientific colleagues â€" including Programs, Operations, Human Resources, Finance and Scientific Platforms â€" to collect information and deliver effective communications to the broader Zuckerman community and the University
Manage and maintain the appropriate communications tools, including mailing lists and digital signs, suggesting new tools as appropriate
Manage multiple projects by tracking deadlines, deliverables and organize processes to ensure communications remain efficient and high quality
Collaborate with the Internal Communications Associate to ensure/question if the information being disseminated can be communicated in a different, more efficient way. Present new ideas challenging the status quo while having a clear vision of bigger picture
Perform additional special projects and other duties as assigned
A Bachelorâ€™s degree in English, journalism, history or related field
At least 3-5 years of communications/writing or related experience
Design experience, especially with Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop
Working knowledge of HTML and Drupal, and familiarity with content management systems
Excellent customer service, organizational and time management skills
Ability to think creatively, approach communications with a fresh perspective
Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Ability to handle changing priorities, deal with ambiguity, have sound judgment and a collaborative style that fosters teamwork and cooperation beyond the immediate team to the broader organization
Excel as a writer, editor and listener
Able to work with minimal supervision and weekend and off-hours on occasion, as needed
Familiarity and experience with project management principles and practices
Experience with online graphic tools such as Canva
Comfortable presenting to peers and senior level stakeholders
