The primary purpose of the position is to communicate center activities, research results, products, training and technical assistance opportunities to a national audience primarily via social media, websites, and listservs. Dissemination of this information is a requirement of the federal grants which fund the activities.
1. Maintain Twitter and Facebook accounts and post daily, which involves writing content, creating graphics, taking pictures, and connecting with followers. 2. Prepare center products for dissemination, which involves editing, formatting, adding graphics as needed, and completing accessibility checks. 3. Document all NRTC products developed and events, and associated dissemination activities, to facilitate reporting to funding agencies. 4. Manage strategic dissemination of NRTC products and activities through social media, listservs, and other forms, including communicating with external organizations associated with funding agencies. 5. Edit and create videos (e.g., conference presentations, promotional videos). 6. Create quarterly newsletters, monthly NRTC Notes, and news items that involve solicitation of story ideas, development of the products, and dissemination of the final products. Requires dissemination through NRTC listservs, which are maintained by the communications coordinator. 7. Provide leadership and support for various events, including virtual webinars, live presentations, exhibit booths, outreach events, and conferences (virtual and in-person), which may include serving as a representative for the NRTC at these events. 8. Maintain relationship with MSU Office of Public Affairs and MSU College of Education to adhere to branding standards, communicate relevant news items, and promote work of staff. 9. Design, order and distribute promotional products for the NRTC, including brochures, flyers, videos, business cards, and other requested items. 10. Provide supervision to the web designer for: a. managing three NRTC websites b. utilizing Google Analytics to track website usage and make recommendations accordingly c. online course development and management. 11. Assist with research project-related activities, as needed. 12. Perform related duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibility: Provides supervision and guidance to the web designer.

Education: Bachelor's degree in focus area of Communication, Journalism, Marketing, English, or related field
Experience: Two years directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Master's degree in Communication, Journalism, Marketing, English, or related field.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
* Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. * Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities. * Ability to foster a cooperative work environment. * Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. * Ability to evaluate and edit the content, structure, and format of a range of written material. * Skills in the use of Qualtrics, Adobe Premiere Pro, and Microsoft Office software. * Knowledge of communication principles, media, and public relations techniques. * Ability to analyze and interpret intellectual information and to develop accurate and descriptive abstracts and summaries. * Knowledge of media production and publishing principles and processes. * Ability to plan, develop, and coordinate multiple projects and events.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
No unusual physical requirements. Requires no heavy lifting, and nearly all work is performed in a comfortable indoor facility.
Routine deadlines; usually sufficient lead time; variance in work volume seasonal and predictable; priorities can be anticipated; some interruptions are present; involves occasional exposure to demands and pressures from persons other than immediate supervisor.
Job frequently requires sitting, talking, hearing, handling objects with hands.
