Strategy (25%) Responsible for the Creative Department’s strategy for visual brand identity for the Illinois Athletics Department and State Farm Center. Maintain branding guidelines to ensure optimal value of Illinois Athletics, State Farm Center and the University of Illinois. Handles the conceptual creation of annual brand development as it relates to the visual look of DIA design work. Supervision of the planning, design, and implementation process for the department’s promotional and advertising materials including social media content, digital and print ads, posters, banners, facility signage, in-house documents, operational pieces, and all other related items. Leadership (25%) Oversee Creative Department staff, including full-time employees, student positions and outside vendors used to create product. Review costs and pricing related to the production of advertising and promotional materials to ensure most favorable terms and rates. Budget for and maintain supplies and equipment necessary for the proper and efficient operation of the graphic design and production area. Work with printers and other related vendors in the planning and production process including gathering bids and pricing information to assure the best cost/benefit advantage possible. Production (50%) Handles creation of visual branding for Illinois Athletics facilities, including internal décor, banners, vexillas and signage. Assist in the conceptualization, content, production, and placement of advertising and promotional campaigns with media outlets including radio, television, and print. Provide support to the fundraising and development office for gift proposals, donor recognition and stewardship, as well as other Athletic support units in efforts to improve student-athlete wellbeing. Proactively contribute to the recruitment of prospective student-athletes through visual materials, such as digital presentations, official visits, creative technology, . Provide graphic and visual content for Illinois Athletics and sport social media platforms, and official Athletic website, fightingillini.com. Work with the Marketing/Promotions Manager to create and develop creative for the department promotional, marketing and revenue generating initiatives, such as posters, schedule cards, ticket applications.
Education: Required: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business administration, communications, public relations, or a closely related field. Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, art, or advertising. Experience: Required: (Specialty Factor) Three years of professional work experience in marketing, public relations, communications, brand management, or a related professional area in collegiate or professional athletics. Preferred: Familiarity with design for college or professional athletics
