Mississippi State University Athletics is seeking an Associate Director/Communications to join its communications and external team. The successful candidate must be highly organized and driven with exceptional multi-tasking and communication skills. This position will work closely with the Associate Athletic Director/Communications, the department's graduate assistants and student assistants in addition to working alongside the marketing and Hail State Productions video teams. The candidate must have strong knowledge of social media platforms as well as outstanding writing and public relations skills. Travel will be required as well as working long hours and weekends.
1. Serve as the primary contact for the 2021 national champion baseball program. a. Prepare, maintain and distribute media information and other publicity for baseball during the fall and spring. b. Produce or assist with the production of content for the athletic department website and video portal, particularly as it relates to baseball. c. Manage, create and strategize creative digital content for department's social media entities related to baseball. d. Serve as team spokesperson and coordinate all of the program's media appearances. e. Provide coaches and staff with appropriate messaging for speeches and public appearances. f. Travel with the team to cover events. g. Supervise baseball press box for all home games. h. Strategically communicate to manage the program's national brand. i. Work closely with the SEC's broadcast partners, radio and external media to provide accurate information for coverage. j. Promote student-athletes for various national, regional and conference awards. k. Maintain the baseball program's statistical archives and records. 2. Serve as the editor of the football game program a. Oversee the content and production of the football game program. b. Generate ideas, delegate stories. c. Serve as liaison to the printer. 3. Establish and maintain relationships with appropriate local, state and national media representatives. Work to develop positive relations with the local community and area businesses. 4. Complete other departmental tasks as assigned by the Associate Athletic Director/Communications.

Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communication, Journalism with two (2) years of experience in media relations, athletic communications, preferably as a baseball contact.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1. Ability to travel with the team. 2. Ability to work long hours, including nights and weekends. 3. Excellent written and oral communication skills. 4. Knowledge of media, media relations concepts and principles, print and electronic media outlets, accurate writing skills.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
Regularly involves lifting, bending or other physical exertion. Often exposed to one or more elements such as heat, cold, noise, dirt, chemicals, etc. Job frequently requires walking, standing, lifting, sitting, reaching, talking, hearing and handling objects with hands.
