The UCPath Center is the University of California's shared services center in Riverside, CA. The Senior HR Generalist will work within the University of California Office of the President Local HR department, located at UCPath in Riverside, CA reporting directly to the Human Resources Business Partner. The Senior HR Generalist applies professional human resources, system-wide policies, and procedures to resolve issues that are moderate in scope and impact where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. The position recommends, assists in the development, implementation, administration, coordination, or evaluation of UC Human Resources policies, programs and procedures covering several of the following: recruitment, employee relations, labor relations, payroll, training and development, visa procurement, intercampus transfers, and UCOP employee services.
This position uses professional HR concepts as a seasoned, experienced professional to apply organization policies and procedures to resolve the full range of HR-related issues. Works on problems that are diverse and complex in scope, where analysis of situations require a review of a variety of factors. Normally receives little instruction on day-to-day assignments with some guidance provided on new projects.
General HR/Employee Relations: Assists with the advisement, and recommendations to all levels of managers, supervisors and employees on a wide range of HR activities, including but not limited to recruitment and selection processes, performance evaluations, visa procurement, training and development, and employee services. Provides counsel to employees and management concerning sensitive and difficult to resolve work-related issues. Ensures all HR actions comply with UC policies and procedures, relevant laws and collective bargaining agreements. Assists with the coordination of onboarding and off-boarding of UCPath employees. Collaborates with HR Business Partners/SMEs on complex and/or sensitive issues to recommend solutions. Conducts termination interviews, providing feedback to management. May maintain records for equal employment opportunity and affirmative action reporting requirements.
Special Projects: Actively participates in the continuous improvement of UCPath for HR department related matters. Makes recommendations based on assisting in the analysis of UCPath HR trends. Identifies opportunities for HR process improvements. Leads or actively participates with ongoing HR initiatives as necessary or assigned. Assists in the assessment of client HR training needs; assists in the delivery of various training and related materials. Assists in the necessary communication and coordination of the rollout and submission of annual and probationary performance reviews. Provides guidance to supervisors on establishing goals, preparing evaluations, providing performance feedback, and meeting key deadlines. Assists with addressing performance issues and reviewing performance evaluations for consistency and rating justification. Assists with UCPath staff internal communications. Advises all levels of managers, supervisors, and employees in identifying appropriate professional development opportunities for client groups.
Recruiting: Participates in a wide variety of recruitment activities such as assisting with job descriptions, may help with scheduling and screening applicants. Ensures career, temporary and contract recruitments conform to UC policies/procedures and relevant laws. Acts as a liaison between UCOP departments and UCLA offices in coordinating visa, work authorizations and green card petitions.
Possesses strong analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations, demonstrating organization and problem-solving skills.

Thorough knowledge of human resources concepts, policies and procedures, employment practices, labor relations, salary administration, training and other areas of human resources.
Knowledge of a human resources management system (HRMS), and / or other related business software programs and systems.
Skilled in communicating clearly and effectively orally and in writing.
