Job Description Summary: The Walker School of Business & Technology (WSBT) is currently seeking a WSBT Recruitment and Engagement Graduate Assistant to help coordinate a variety of services and opportunities to enhance students' professional development and sense of community within the school. The Grad assistant will manage student events, help develop a comprehensive recruitment and engagement plan. Also, work closely with staff to support student retention and success.
Term of appointment: 2021-2022 academic year
Course Work: Must be accepted to a graduate program at Webster University Must enroll in 9 credit hours of graduate courses per semester Must maintain a good academic standing Must demonstrate relationship of work to academic benefit
Hours of Work: Not to exceed 20 hours per week. Work time must be recorded via the Time & Attendance System, MyWebster (myadp.com).
Compensation: Graduate Assistant in FY21: $13 per hour; Paid for hours worked on a bi-weekly basis per the University's payroll schedule.* Note: Graduate Assistants do not typically work on University holidays.
Scholarship: Equivalent to 50% of graduate tuition for nine credit hours per semester at on-ground rate (pro-rated based on start date); the scholarship is non-taxable.
Minimum Qualifications Current Graduate student at Webster University BA or BS degree in a business, communication or marketing or training & development related field Demonstrated student leadership at a college or university Experience in events planning and communication Ability to take initiative, generate new ideas and coordinate projects from inception to delivery Excellent interpersonal, public speaking, writing and social media skills Strong work ethic, and the desire to contribute to a collaborative work setting Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
Preferred Qualifications Experience in Photoshop, Illustrator, WordPress, and video systems such as Vimeo, iMovie, etc. a plus Experience with Constant Contact, Canva or Hootsuite a plus. Strong familiarity with social media platforms Video or photography skills a plus Institutional research experience Availability to work some evenings and/or weekends
Essential Duties Event planning Create & edit content for a weekly newsletter Create promotional materials for programs and events Oversee student workers Create correspondence as directed Generate reports as directed
