Edinboro University of Pennsylvania is seeking online applications for a Head Women's & Men's Cross Country Coach/Assistant Track & Field Coach. This positions implements a competitive NCAA Division II women’s and men’s cross country program and all phases of recruiting, organizing, budgeting, managing, planning and travel arrangements responsible for planning, finalizing and implementing game plans, the in-season and out-of-season player development; coordination of strength training and recruiting activities. Assist the Head Women’s Track and Field Coach in all aspects of the women’s track and field program. Duties are performed within the framework of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) and NCAA rules and regulations; promote good public relations; other athletic related duties as assigned.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Ultimately responsible for the management/direction of all aspects of a competitive women’s and men’s cross country program within the framework of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC), NCAA, the CBA, and/or the rules and regulations of the University and any other athletic conference in which the University is a member. Works under the direction of the Coordinator of Cross Country Program.
Plan/manage all competitions and practices of the program, including in-season and out-of-season player development.
Assist the Head Women’s Track and Field Coach in all aspects of the women’s track and field program with an emphasis on the middle distance and distance events.
Recruit qualified student athletes.
Promote the academic success of the student athletes.
Advise student athletes of the University’s athletic policies and all other appropriate requirements of PSAC and NCAA and any other athletic conference in which the University is a member.
Help implement the Edinboro University Athletic Drug Education, Screening and Counseling Program for intercollegiate athletes including being a member of the drug screening team.
Manage the budget for the program, including organizing and planning travel arrangements.
Participate in fundraising events and the promotion of good public relations.
Evaluate all assistant coaches, if applicable.
Responsible for the submission of both head coach and assistant coach’s monthly work schedules to the Athletic Director.
Other duties as assigned.
Required: Bachelor’s degree required; thorough knowledge of NCAA rules required; 3 to 5 years coaching experience required; demonstrated excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills required.
Preferred: Master’s preferred; coaching experience at the collegiate level preferred; NCAA recruiting examination certification preferred; working knowledge of PSAC rules desirable; demonstrated experience working with diverse student populations.
