Position Overview: The Content Video Specialist plays a key role in creating content for Wentworth digital and print collateral, with a heavy focus on multimedia assets. This position is highly proficient in videography with experience in photography and developing content for varying audiences. This position will work in partnership with colleagues in developing long-range projects and content planning.
Position Detail: The Content Video Specialistis a member of the Marketing and Communications team within Wentworth Institute of Technology, working with the entire university to craft content that appeals to prospective students and families, external media, internal audiences, and alumni and donors, among other groups.
With a heavy focus on video shooting and editing, the Content Video Specialist drives much of the multimedia and other content used to promote the work of Wentworth students, faculty and others.
This role is part of a small, but mighty team we are building. We all roll up our sleeves, so the ability to pivot from strategic to tactical, and support other new marketing tactics as opportunities present themselves is necessary. The Marketing and Communications team employs a flexible work environment, where we are on campus 2-3 days a week, and work from home 2-3 days a week. Capture and edit video on a daily basis; take photos where appropriate; use analytics to assess what content should be created; interview others and accurately collect information.
This role will be the university’s primary videographer and will be asked to capture the spirit of our students, faculty, and community, bringing that to life with compelling video and photo assets, which will be integrated into various platforms including website, social media, and our YouTube channel.
This role will not only shoot content, but also directly edit the content to ensure it is crisp, memorable, and on brand.
This role will be responsible for creating video and other assets to showcase what the Wentworth community and brand looks and sounds like to the world. We are looking for a highly creative minded individual to join our team.
Regularly add to database of content collected from around campus.
Partner with our external agency(s) to help support, direct, and create flagship quality video content and stories for the university.
In concert with the Director of Content, identify potential stories and conceptualize how to tell them (through video, photos, infographics, etc.).
Storyboard, shoot, and edit internally produced video content.
Cultivate professional development strategies aimed at keeping skills current with technology trends and best practices.
Capture video footage and still photography including students and faculty working in labs, classrooms and other locations around campus, as well as portraits and scenic images, and interview subjects on camera.
Accrue footage and work with the Digital Content Specialist to upload to and organize within multimedia database.
Check the site for out-of-date content and refresh it as needed, including updating images, video embeds, and written content.
Other duties as assigned.
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is preferred.
5 or more years as a videographer or similar experience is required.
Proficiency in Adobe Premiere or other industry-standard video software, as well as Photoshop or other photo editing software. Proficiency in effects software including After Effects is a plus.
Proven track record and high comfort level in learning new technologies.
Understanding of and commitment to follow and/or enforce web, Wentworth branding, and accessibility standards.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; demonstrated experience prioritizing work, meeting deadlines, working under deadline pressure, and handling multiple assignments simultaneously.
Exceptionally strong communication skills and proofreading proficiency are required; some writing experience preferred.
Enthusiastic service orientation with sensitivity to the needs of users at all skill levels; the ability to convey technical information to a non-technical audience is essential.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Knowledge of engaging with people in an approachable way, enabling them to tell their stories in an authentic and effective manner.
Requires initiative, problem-solving skills, and high attention to detail.
Candidate should expect to present their qualifications and a portfolio of work they have directly authored.
