The Advocacy and Political Affairs manager assists the Director of Governmental Affairs in implementing the FICPA's government relations program. The role will focus on growing PAC participation in addition to mange the activities and issues of the Florida CPA Political Action Committee (PAC).
Manage the activities and issues of the four Florida CPA Political Action Committees (PAC). Assist the Director of Governmental Affairs in candidate research and contribution recommendations. Work proactively to grow PAC participation while developing and fostering positive relationships with members, firms, and affiliates.
Manage compliance with Florida campaign finance laws and the filing of Florida Division of Elections political committee reports.
Assist the Director of Governmental Affairs in developing and implementing a communications strategy to further advocacy efforts. Responsible for communicating legislative & regulatory updates, along with PAC, KPC program, and legislative events/visits.
Conduct research on legislative/political matters. Identify specific research and persons who can assist in supporting or opposing particular issues. Assist in developing communications material to support legislative/political advocacy efforts.
Assist the Director of Governmental Affairs in advocacy activities before the Florida Legislature and other state regulatory agencies that affect the public accounting profession. Developing creative strategies to accomplish the legislative and regulatory objectives of the FICPA.
Support the Director in the coordination of activities related to the administration of the FICPA Key Person Contact Program, standing committees, and task forces.
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelors degree in, communications, public relations, marketing, business administration or related field.
Two years of professional experience in fundraising, communications, grassroots advocacy, legislative lobbying, public administration, or business administration; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Knowledge of: Florida government, Florida Division of Elections, fundraising, Florida campaign finance law, legislative process including a business relationship with legislators, staff, regulators, etc.; and monitoring legislation through the House, Senate, and Governor's Office.
Skills in: Public speaking, fundraising, public relations, conducting research, and problem solving.
