The Sr. Manager, Strategic Communications is a new, integral role within the NACD Marketing Department. In this role, the Sr. Manager will bring the NACD story to life, leading external and internal communications for the organization. This individual will design and implement public relations and communications strategies that build relationships with media, engage our key audiences in the governance ecosystem, heighten our social media experience, and boost the NACD brand. The Sr. Manager, Strategic Communications will report to the VP, Marketing, and work with other NACD departments to amplify aspects of content development and storytelling--from concept and strategy to implementation and promotion.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
In conjunction with a new NACD brand strategy, develop the NACD communications strategy, communications objectives, and media relations campaigns.
Maximize earned media opportunities, and develop relationships with media members, influencers, and members of the governance ecosystem.
Develop strategy and oversee execution for internal and external channels such as newsletters, NACD Chapters, social media and other NACD member-facing engagement channels.
Provide communications support for senior leadership communications and employer branding, and effectively communicate with a wide range of internal stakeholders and develop messages and talking points for key initiatives.
Track and report communication strategy effectiveness to internal stakeholders.
Anticipate potential reputational issues and exercise judgment, and monitor, analyze, and fine tune messaging to maximize impact.
Set objectives for the communications team and external vendors and monitor performance to goals.
Perform other duties, as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing or Business Administration, plus seven years of related communications experience, including a minimum five years of progressively increasing responsibility in strategic communications.
Proven track record of driving storytelling, and enhancing brands, key initiatives, and/or products.
Expertise in multiple social networks, including Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter.
Strong team management skills, with experience managing staff and external vendors.
Excellent written and oral communications skills, along with the ability to create a clear, concise, and well-written narrative that reflects NACD’s mission and vision.
