The Social Media & Digital Community Strategist is responsible for managing the various social media accounts of the Hoover Institution by promoting the Institution's public policy research, the Fellows, its mission, and the brand on its social media platforms. This should be done with an in-depth knowledge of the outreach and advertising tools each social channel offers. The Strategist will work closely with the leadership at the Institution and its Fellows to develop, implement, and execute an initiative-level digital community communications plan for the institution through key partnerships and innovative distribution methods. This role reports to the Associate Director of Marketing & Policy Education of the Hoover Institution.
Manage development, implementation, and ongoing execution of a digital community strategy for the Hoover Institution; including how to engage users and fundamentally impact their relationship with the Institution.
Lead digital community-building through social media channels and the web including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram and others such as bloggers, aggregators, etc., using innovative and strategic thinking.
Responsible for management of Hoover digital channels. Oversee editorial strategy and voice (of the content through the channels).
Partner with internal stakeholders such as product and program managers and campus partners to achieve the Hoover Institution's goals and to ensure coordination.
Manage constituent complaints and reputational issues and other high priorities on digital channels.
Direct and supervise staff.
ADDITIONAL CORE DUTIES*:
Develop well-written and visually appealing content to drive engagement.
Track and analyze compiled data across institutional accounts to measure the Institution's effectiveness in distributing information. Report on and make recommendations to management on refinements to social media use.
Work with partner agencies to use the various modes of communication, distribution, advertisements, and marketing tools on all social media platforms.
Stay abreast of emerging social media platforms and recommend areas in which the Hoover Institution could effectively grow and leverage its reach.

Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience required. Five years of relevant experience strongly preferred including knowledge of and experience in the field of public policy.

Knowledge of the web, technology, social platforms, current and future trends.
Excellent writing and analytical skills.
Demonstrated problem solver.
Ability to leverage current and future trends to help an organization succeed at the initiative level, for a specific group, team or unit.
Ability to work independently to meet expected deadlines and schedules.
Experience leading highly-functioning teams.
Desired/Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Experience and understanding of effective ways for a public policy research center/think tank to use social media to reach target audiences.
Excellent research and writing skills with an ability to distill complicated policy issues in a way that appeals to social media audiences, as well as pulling from the library of Institutional research in relation to current policy debates/news issues.
Ability to illustrate proven success with growing various social media audiences and increasing engagement.
Certifications and Licenses:
Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.
Frequently stand/walk, sit, use a telephone, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, speaking.
Occasionally grasp forcefully, writing by hand.
