COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER , MIT Quest for Intelligence-MIT-IBM Watson AI Lab , to work with the director on leading the development and creation of a broad strategic communications and outreach plan to advance the goals of the lab. Will manage content development and promotion by generating stories, press releases, and other content for the lab, MIT News, and newsletters.; create lab content such as research summaries, principal investigator profiles, and event descriptions; manage the website; manage, create, and measure social media content, including conceptualizing and implementing new communications initiatives; manage a monthly newsletter; and conceptualize, write, and/or edit content for multiple channels and projects.
Job Requirements REQUIRED : a bachelor's degree (master's preferred) in journalism, communications, or related field; at least five years of experience in science writing, communications, and/or public relations; broad interest in artificial intelligence and ability to discuss a wide range of projects; excellent writing, editing, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills; thorough understanding of the tools of modern publishing and website management; demonstrated ability to work strategically and collaboratively and to manage changing and conflicting priorities; high-level proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite; track record of prioritizing multiple work assignments and meeting deadlines; ability to collaborate across all organizational units in a team-oriented environment; strong research and interviewing skills, including ability to develop, assess, and synthesize information and translate complex scientific concepts for a general audience; and the ability to copy-edit writing for grammar, spelling, accuracy, format, tone, and AP style.
