The Assistant Athletic Director of Marketing, Game Presentation and Fan Experience is responsible for the game day production of the University of Washington’s Athletic programs and has an emphasis on providing memorable experiences for fans in attendance at UW events and creating a home field advantage for student-athletes.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Oversee the Game Presentation and Fan Experience staff to develop and implement entertainment elements for UW home games and select team events. Create unique in-game fan experiences that add value to patrons in attendance while creating a home field advantage for student-athletes. Develop programming to include videoboard content, pyrotechnics and special effects, on-field/court recognitions, halftime shows, sponsor activations, in-game promotions, fan contests, and other entertainment elements.
Plan and execute game scripts for assigned sports, including football, which includes communicating the game information and performance cues for Band, Cheer and Dance, Mascots, UWTV crew, PA Announcer, DJ, Stage Managers and Audio team. Book national anthem performers, halftime acts, and serves as point person for special recognitions such as Senior Day and team anniversary reunions.
Collaborate with creative staff to ensure videoboard and in-game elements are visually and thematically consistent with departmental and campaign brand standards.
Collaborate and meet regularly with Washington IMG Sports Marketing Senior Account Executive and Partner Services Coordinator on creating unique corporate partnership opportunities that add value for fans in attendance.
Manage the development of the department’s Cheer/Dance, Mascot, PA Announcers, and Audio DJ programs. Hire coaches and personnel for each program and oversee budgets.
Serve as liaison to Fan Advisory Council to solicit feedback on game day experience improvements and to develop new game day traditions.
Maintain an ever-evolving understanding of the industry and utilize creative skills to produce an elite game day experience.
Compliance with the rules and regulations of the University, the NCAA, the Pac-12 Conference, the State of Washington and any other governing body is of paramount importance to the University. The overall responsibility of this position is for the successful operation of the program in full compliance with all such rules and regulations. As a condition of employment, the Employee shall be required to participate in rules education programs offered by the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree required in marketing, communications, public relations or a related field. Minimum of five years of combined professional experience in marketing, promotions, or events. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and familiar with Photoshop and video editing software. Highly motivated, creative, self-starter with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong leader and mentor skills, particularly with college students. Must be able to work a flexible schedule; evenings and weekends are required.
DESIRED: Master’s degree preferred. Knowledge of Click Effects, Chyron Generator, Daktronics Show Control and related videoboard production software preferred.
