The Society for Healthcare Strategy & Market Development (SHSMD), a personal membership group of the American Hospital Association, is the largest and most prominent voice and resource for healthcare strategists, planners, marketers, and communications and public relations professionals nationwide. SHSMD is committed to helping its members meet the future with greater knowledge and opportunity as their organizations work to improve the health status and quality of life in their communities. SHSMD serves more than 4,000 members—professionals who work in all sectors of healthcare, including hospitals and health systems, physician groups, consulting firms, advertising and public relations agencies, and service providers.
The SHSMD membership manager develops, implements, evaluates and readjusts/refines comprehensive programs for membership growth, recruitment, and retention in alignment with strategic plan to achieve growth targets. Manages the membership cycle for VIP groups, special customer sections (e.g., government), and regional SHSMD chapters. Manages association volunteer leadership activities, member engagement activities, both online and in-person. Leads member orientation, recognition and awards, career related resources, and analyzes membership data, trends and financials, adjusting tactics as needed to meet strategic goals. Produces content relevant to membership interests, such as news, blogs, articles and key resources. Manages programs designed to engage and help members in their career/professional growth, such as Bridging Worlds/ADVANCE

Bachelors or better in Marketing Management or related field.
5-7 years:Minimum of 5 years’ experience in association management, customer relationship management, marketing/communications, or membership management is required. Experience developing and implementing membership growth and retention strategies using multiple channels including digital platforms. Supervisory experience preferred. Familiarity with health care and SHSMD professions strongly preferred. Effective project team leadership and collaboration with volunteer leaders required.
