This position is responsible for providing strategic counsel to multiple stakeholders and leading strategic public relations efforts in coordination with the marketing team across Deloitte's Life Sciences & Health Care (LSHC) business.
The Public Relations Senior Manager delivers innovative external communications strategies that build and protect the firm's brand and reputation, position the firm as a thought leader, attract top talent, ensure consistent messaging, and position the business to win work.
What you'll do:
As the LSHC public relations lead in Deloitte Services LP, you will contribute to the growth and development of our organization in a variety of ways:
Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and execute a strategic PR plan designed to drive external eminence
Serve as a trusted advisor and provide strategic counsel to senior leadership and key stakeholders across the practice
Enhance and cultivate relationships with the media - be a resource for reporters covering health care, health plans, and life sciences
Proactively pitch stories positioning Deloitte, senior leadership, and other industry leaders as experts on specific topics.
Prepare spokespeople and leaders for media interviews and speaking engagements by providing refresher media training as appropriate and facilitating/coordinating media training for spokespeople when required
Manage external public relations agencies, including tracking budgets, reporting, and delivery of support to meet business goals
Collaborate closely with the LSHC marketing team and other Deloitte industry/business PR leads to ensure messaging, reporter outreach, and signature-issue positioning are aligned
Measure and communicate effectiveness of external communications/PR programs and tactics
Develop and manage more junior members of the team to ensure successful results and to help them build skills

Qualifications/ Skills Required:
Communications professional with a minimum of 12+ years relevant experience
Bachelor's degree, preferably in communications, English, public relations, or journalism
Deep understanding of the life sciences and health care landscape, with a strong background in media relations best practices, reporter engagement, connection, and use of social media to amplify media coverage
Proven success in developing and executing external communications strategies and plans for a large business, preferably in professional services
Demonstrated ability in developing and executing executive positioning programs, working with senior leaders, and collaborating across a multi-disciplinary marketing team in a matrixed organization
Executive presence, strong communications skills, able to confidently provide strategic counsel, ask good questions, challenge the status quo, suggest alternatives, and articulate pros and cons
Ability to handle ambiguity and fluid priorities, gain consensus through influence, change course when warranted, and manage multiple and complex priorities proactively, efficiently and effectively
Experience in successfully leading and developing team members, providing effective guidance and coaching, maintaining close understanding of all team activities, ensuring high quality for all activities/deliverables, and implementing course corrections when needed
Ability to successfully engage and manage an external PR agency
Experience in measuring the effectiveness of communications strategies, tactics and programs
Expert-level proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint, Outlook and Word; knowledgeable in all aspects of Microsoft Office and ancillary program.
