Working closely with the President, the Vice President for Public Affairs, and the Chief Communications Officer, and reporting to the Associate Director for Multimedia Production and Outreach, the Social Media Managerâ€™s responsibilities include the following:
Manage all aspects of the Collegeâ€™s social media strategy and engagement across all social media platforms and increase reach and engagement of key audiences and social communities.
Identify, develop, and implement social media strategies and campaigns (both organic and paid) to support the Collegeâ€™s key priorities, including recruitment, student success, research and innovation, and fundraising, and continually refine those strategies based on assessment, analytics, and current trends in social media strategy and marketing.
Build audience and engagement from key stakeholders, including prospective and current students, alumni, donors, public officials, and thought leaders.
Monitor social media activity and conduct social listening for all College accounts, respond as needed, and lead social media response during crisis communications as needed.
Develop process and timeline for regularly collecting, analyzing, and sharing metrics for College social media accounts and individual social campaigns;
translate data, insights, and best practices into data-driven recommendations for revising strategy, content, and tactics in order to increase engagement for social media initiatives and campaigns.
Write, produce, and publish high quality and accurate multimedia content to highlight the Presidentâ€™s voice and the Collegeâ€™s programs, resources, news, and events.
Plan and schedule contributed posts from various contributors (and secondary accounts) to all College accounts, including the Presidentâ€™s accounts; maintain a content calendar for short- and long-term needs.
Amplify and curate content from partners, and share resources appropriately (secondary accounts, CUNY, key stakeholders including the Presidentâ€™s and Chancellorâ€™s accounts).
Develop and maintain posting guidelines and brand style-guide for all social media channels.
Convene, lead, and participate in social media-related committees and groups, as well as training workshops and sessions.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree required, plus six yearsâ€™ related experience.
OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Excellent writing, editing, communication, and presentation skills that can be adapted for different social media channels and audiences, as well as for different College voices in social media.
Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Ability to work collaboratively with a sense of urgency and timeliness in a fast-paced environment
Attention to detail and accuracy; strong organizational and project management skills
Deep knowledge and experience with social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, as well as newer ones such as Snapchat and TikTok
Experience with social media planning and analytics tools, including Hootsuite and Trello
Ability to use analytics and research to evaluate campaigns and design strategy
Knowledge of current trends in social media and social media apps, as well as overall digital communications, advanced technologies, and user experience strategies
Proficient with both PC and Mac computer systems and environments
Must be available for evening and weekend assignments as needed.
PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of SEO and Google Analytics, including setting up events, pixel codes, and testing for social media campaigns
Proficiency in image and video tools, including Adobe and Canva
CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW
Manages electronic, online and multi-media communications, providing editorial, technical and production expertise.
-Consults with client staff to assess needs and determine design and technical specifications
-Plans communications messages, formats, and designs which meet clients' needs and have impact with the intended audience(s)
-Coordinates the efforts of internal and external professionals to implement and disseminate electronic media projects
-Creates and maintains databases, archives, and other content associated with electronic media projects
-Develops production policies and standards and adheres to communications and branding standards
-Supervises staff as needed
-Performs related duties as assigned.
