Sr. Director Internal Communications Strategy & Data Insights
We are looking for a talented Sr. Director Internal Communications Strategy & Data Insights to join our team. This role has responsibility for developing and managing a full portfolio of internal communications channels, measuring and assessing the overall effectiveness of communication systems through qualitative and quantitative data and building a mature communications infrastructure through processes and project management. This role will report to the Vice President, Communications and serve as a member of the Internal Communications leadership team. The successful candidate should have significant experience developing communications data and insights programs, partnering with technology teams to implement, configure, and maintain communication systems, and leveraging technology platforms to drive project management and resource allocation across teams. This role will require a proven track record of leading teams and partnering with executives in a matrixed environment.
Strategy and Development
Understand the holistic landscape of available communication systems and ever-evolving technology trends.
Work with internal subject matters experts to understand business needs, document requirements, and create methods to evaluate potential communication solutions against selected criteria.
Curate and evolve the full portfolio of communication systems through the lens of necessity, effectiveness, and efficiency. Develop criteria for determining the right balance of diverse options with focused impact, sunsetting tools/systems when needed.
Develop an intimate understanding of audiences and gather, analyze, and incorporate appropriate brand and industry research, trends, and best practices to ensure that communication systems resonate with and motivate key audiences.
Partner with IT/technology teams to implement, configure, and maintain communication systems, whether purchased or developed in-house.
Build strategies and plans to build awareness and adoption of new communication tools and capabilities across key audiences.
Partner with agency resources and internal teams to measure and assess the overall effectiveness/impact of communications through qualitative and quantitative data.
Unlock specific, timely and actionable insights to help communications teams deliver compelling and relevant communications to the intended target audience.
Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and internal clients.
Demonstrate teamwork within the Communications team as a whole, supporting team members, providing coaching/mentoring, etc.
Build and maintain strong working relationships with key technology partners and other industry leaders and influencers.
Develop and manage all resources to support ownership of communication systems programs (e.g., budget, agency/vendor support, team support, etc.).
Ensure all programs are kept within established budgets.
Provide Communications leadership with regular updates on resource management (e.g., quarterly budget updates/projections, agency support, etc.) and escalate any issues/roadblocks.
Complete all routine administrative functions (e.g., expense reports, budgets, etc.) in an accurate and timely fashion.
12+ years of managing strategic communications programs and teams
Demonstrated experience in project management, analytics, communications operations, or change management
Proven track record of managing a portfolio of internal communications channels
Experience building standard reporting tools and scorecards for a holistic view of results across the organization and year-over-year tracking capability
Experience in corporate environment preferred
Familiarity with Workfront and other project management tools
Executive presence, a dynamic professional but "no ego," and the ability to inspire confidence among leaders and all stakeholders with whom this individual will interact.
Highly developed interpersonal, team building and relationship management skills. Advanced presentation skills to translate complex information into digestible formats.
Strong critical thinking skills and ability to analyze data, draw conclusions and provide actionable recommendations across a range of communications tactics and channels.
Collaborative style and ability to develop strong partnerships others in a highly complex, matrixed environment.
Team player who is focused on delivering against the business/function needs rather than personal passions or individual agendas.,
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Outstanding judgment, intuition, self-starter/strong initiative, and quick learner.
Strong business acumen with the ability to anticipate company and team needs.
Excellent organization and project management skills and a demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex projects to budget and schedule.
Bachelor's degree in public relations, journalism, mass media, information technology and/or communications or other related field; graduate degree preferred.
Up to 10% travel may be required
