The successful candidates will assist in the day-to-day responsibilities of the specific area while enrolled in one of the qualifying Masters programs. The candidate will perform a number of administrative duties depending on the functions of the area they are placed, as well as other duties as assigned by the supervising administrator. The candidate will emerge from the fellowship with the necessary background and experience to be qualified to become a full-time administrator in collegiate athletics.
The Provost Fellowship is a 1 – year accelerated academic and experiential program with a 50% reduction in graduate tuition awarded to successful candidates.
In order to be considered for a fellowship you must apply to one of the qualifying Masters programs and be accepted for a fellowship. Club Sports Graduate Fellow Responsibilities: •Assist with scheduling of games and practices •Support club teams managing their finances •Actively recruit both current and prospective students
Fitness Center and Recreation Graduate Fellow Responsibilities: •Assist with oversight of the Sakowich Campus Fitness Center and over 50 student workers •Scheduling of open hours, shifts for student workers, and group exercise classes •Develop initiatives in conjunction with the Office of Student Involvement through using Campus Recreation activities •Work with the office of wellness to build mental and physical health awareness weeks •Oversight of the Campus Recreation social media accounts
Athletic Training Graduate Fellow Responsibilities: ?Onsite care and management of injuries and illnesses including: prevention, evaluation, management and rehabilitation. ?Electronic documentation of all patient encounters. ?Coordinate and implement injury prevention programs and customized preventative strategies and programs to each patient. ?Minimize risk of injury through awareness, education and prevention strategies. ?Provide accommodation recommendations, related to sport, for student athletes with restrictions or limitations. ?Communicate with physicians and coaching staff regarding the injury status of athletes. ?Carry out medical care for assigned student-athletes per the sports medicine standard operating procedures. Strength and Conditioning Graduate Fellow Responsibilities: ?Assist in implementing all aspects of Strength and Conditioning programs for 24 varsity sports ?Assist with all strength, speed, and conditioning training, as well as weight room maintenance and upkeep
Operations Event Management Graduate Fellow Responsibilities: ?Assist with practice and game scheduling ?Help coordinate travel arrangements for varsity, club and intramural teams ?Assist in training student worker staff ?Serve as game manager for various athletic events ?Help ensure all athletic buildings, fields and arenas are well maintained ?Conduct inventory checks of all game operations equipment ?Be a liaison for visiting teams, officials and fans coming to campus ?Work directly with other departments such as Marketing and Ticketing, Athletic Communications, External Affairs, Compliance, Sports Medicine, among others
Equipment Operations Graduate Fellow Responsibilities: ?Assist with equipment services for 24 varsity athletic programs ?Coordinate equipment issuance, maintenance and inventory
Student-Athlete Welfare & Compliance Graduate Fellow Responsibilities: ?Develop and promote student-athlete education, leadership initiatives, and programming for varsity programs ?Assist with various projects during the transition to NCAA Division I athletics ?Help monitor and increase athletics’ retention rates and conduct exit interviews ?Assist with required reporting including but not limited to the NCAA financial report, Academic Progress Rate (APR), Graduation Rates and EADA reports
Student-Athlete Academic Support Graduate Fellow Responsibilities: ?Assist in academic monitoring and support of current student-athletes and prospective student-athletes including but not limited to the following: collaboration with athletic administration, coaches, Faculty Athletic Representative and the Academic Success Center ?Serve as a one-to-one academic counselor for a caseload of student-athletes, especially those who are academically ineligible ?Monitor Student-Athlete Study Hours (SASH) in conjunction with the Academic Success Center
External Relations Marketing & Ticketing Graduate Fellow Responsibilities: ?Create marketing graphics and designs for social media and email marketing campaigns ?Oversee the operations of the box office for certain games •Assist with growth and development of season and group ticket holders, through creative marketing and sales initiatives •Ensure a strong customer experience for all spectators, beginning with ticket sales and including initiatives throughout the game
Provost Graduate Fellowship Requirements:
? Knowledge of collegiate athletics or sports management background preferred
? Availability to work nights, weekends and holidays
? Communication, organizational, and time management skills
? Proficiency in Gmail, Google Docs, Microsoft Office
? Have a valid driver’s license
Additional Salary Information: Fellowship covers 50% of graduate degree tuition
