The Director of the Highlander Club is responsible for the strategic planning, organization and oversight of the Radford Athletics Highlander Club to include the annual fund, community relations, Highlander Club events, and other Highlander Club and athletics related services and functions as directed by the Deputy Athletics Director or Director of Athletics.
This Position will work closely with the athletic leadership staff, as well as, University Advancement regarding fundraising strategies for the department. Achieve and exceed quarterly and annual fundraising goals established by the Athletics Department. Meeting regularly with the Deputy Athletics Director and Director of Athletics to review goals, funding needs, operating support and scholarships.
Develop and oversee a comprehensive communication plan for donor engagement, stewardship, cultivation, direct mail and written proposals. Managing donor relations including written acknowledgment as well as strategically reviewing non-traditional communications such as social media to engage athletic donors, former student-athletes and prospects. Develop and implement a plan for directing coaches in the process of engaging, cultivating, and stewarding supporters.
Coordinating all Radford Athletics special events to include but no limited to: Athletics Hall of Fame, Highlander Pride Weekend, and other special events that generate revenue for the department.
Other Duties assigned by the Deputy Athletics Director or Director of Athletics.
An advanced degree in business, marketing, sports administration, communications, public relations or related field or equivalent education, training and experience. Some demonstrated professional experience in athletic marketing, development/advancement or a closely related/comparable field. Previous experience in social media, graphic design, communications, marketing for athletics, advancement/event planning and solicitations. Must demonstrate excellent communication skills with attention to accuracy and detail. Ability to work in diverse environment and develop and maintain effective relationships with both internal and external constituents. Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications (Microsoft), including database management. Demonstrated ability to successfully work independently and operate within a fast pace team based environment
