WashU OBGYN supports the use of social media initiatives that seek to share and support its educational, research and clinical missions. The Social Media Coordinator will work with the OBGYN Marketing & Communications manager to develop messages and content in concert with the department’s communications objectives. During the pandemic, it became necessary to create an engaging digital presence through the use of social media and web content.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Write, edit and maintain a content calendar for social media outlets for the Department of OBGYN at Washington University; engage in content writing process, gain insight from subject matter experts, design/create and manage flow of pre-approved photos, graphics and videos for social media posts; assist in developing campaigns for resident/fellow recruitment as well as patient facing campaigns.
Monitor conversations about the OBGYN department on social media outlets.
Website maintenance & design; rewrite and write content for the OBGYN website and other web-based communications.
Coordinates and assists with material design, photoshoots and video creation, including editing as needed.
Order/update materials such as brochures, handouts, business cards, surgery scheduling sheets, surgery packets, sell sheets; assists with program preparation/presentation/events as required.
Perform other duties as assigned by the OBGYN Marketing & Communications manager.
Bachelor's degree in english, journalism, communications or marketing, with a mastery of writing for the web.
Extensive familiarity with social networks (Facebook, Twitter, blogs, YouTube) and emerging technologies (including mobile), Internet culture and etiquette.
At least two years of experience with the development, editing and optimization of content for digital communications.
Expertise with Adobe Indesign, Illustrator, and video editing software.
At least two years of direct experience in a health care setting.
Familiarity with planning of social posts and advertising initiatives.
Ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience with content creation for, and monitoring of, multiple social media channels for an organization.
Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Expert level of attention to detail.
Demonstrated Microsoft Office Suite abilities.
Effective working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite.
Possess a passion for digital and interactive media.
Ability to work well with faculty, administration and staff.
Ability to interpret academic subjects related to medicine and healthcare to lay audiences.
Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills.
The hiring range for this position is $44,054 - $56,139 annually.
