The Office of Strategic Communications & Marketing delivers and supports strategic and innovative communications and marketing technology across all of OEM to advance student recruitment, service, and success. The department collaborates with campus partners to actively influence strategy, practice, and innovation.
The full-time Social Media Specialist supports recruitment and digital communication initiatives for the Office of Enrollment Management (OEM). This position manages a full range of digital communications and marketing strategies for the recruitment and retention of current and prospective IU Bloomington students. Under the direction of the Associate Director/Creative Director, monitors progress of projects and campaigns and evaluates outcomes. Serves as an online ambassador, particularly to prospective high school student audiences, and represents OEM on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, and other social media platforms using Sprout or similar social media management tools.
Bachelor's degree in English, communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field.

Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Digital Marketing, Business, Computer Information Systems, or a related field. One year of experience with marketing and/or communications projects and programs.
Experience with social media management software. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge and use of the web and social media as a marketing tool. Demonstrable experience with Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Snapchat, Instagram, Sprout or similar social media management tools with an understanding of the unique characteristics of the channels and distinctions of their use for organizations. Possess a strong desire to achieve departmental goals and objectives. Comfortable working on a team in an open office seating arrangement. Organizational skills. High degree of energy and initiative. Ability to hold self accountable for assignments and tasks. Detail oriented. Possess a commitment to promoting Indiana University to prospective and current students. Passionate about supporting social media and email best practices and strategies that increase awareness of IU, encourage engagement, and generate measurable, specific calls to action. Possess high levels of tact, diplomacy, confidentiality, and discretion.
Working Conditions / Demands
Able to maintain a complex operational schedule and have some flexibility in work schedule. Be able to adapt to changing work environments as this position at times performs work in a very public environment. Position requires a high degree of tolerance for stress, extended time at a computer, and wearing a headset.
This position is currently remote based with the possibility of a return to campus at a later date. You will need to demonstrate technology and system access to the following:
A high speed, stable internet connection.
A quiet, private work environment.
A cell phone.
A PC running at least Windows 10, or a Mac running Catalina or Big Sur.
A webcam for Zoom/Teams video conferencing.
Administrative access and ability to run Pulse Secure VPN and MS Remote and connect to IUanyware.
