Under direction of the Associate Director, this position coordinates all young alumni programs; manages the mobile app and alumni business directory; works closely with Shared Advancement Services (SAS) to assist with developing and executing marketing campaigns and programs for the Association; responsible for implementation, management, and growth of the People Grove platform; and building a career resources network through collaboration with the career services/colleges/academic units/alumni.
1. Manage and oversee all young alumni programming and the Young Alumni Advisory Council. 2. Implement, manage, and expand the People Grove platform (university-wide initiative) to meet the needs of stakeholders across campus (Career Services, Colleges/Academic units, Alumni Association) in order to provide mentoring, networking, and career development support to as many students and alumni as possible. 3. Collaborate with SAS to develop and execute marketing campaigns and programs to expand our reach and serve as the liaison to SAS for project management for all components of the plan. 4. Continuously research, analyze, develop, and implement the Association's evolving marketing brand and presence and collaborate with SAS for implementation. 5. Manage and expand the Alumni Business Directory program. 6. Develop and maintain productive relationships with alumni business owners. 7. Manage and expand the Mobile App program. 8. Work closely with Career Services to design and implement programs and events that provide career advice, mentoring, and online resources. 9. Establish and monitor benchmarks for assessing the effectiveness of programs and make recommendations for improvements as necessary. 10. Travel as needed to support and speak on behalf of Alumni Association programs. Holiday, weekend, and after-hours work may be necessary. 11. Assist as needed in the planning and coordination of other Alumni Association activities. 12. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibility: This position has no supervisory responsibilities but may give general instructions to subordinate student employees.
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Public Relations, Communication , or related field. Two Year's of relevant work experience Indicated education is required; no substitutions allowed. When a candidate has the required education, but lacks the required experience, they may normally apply additional appropriate education toward the experience requirement, at a rate of one (1) year relevant education per year of required experience.
Experience in alumni relations, career services, or student affairs programs.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Strong organizational skills to plan, implement and evaluate strategic objectives. Demonstrates ability to work independently and as a team. Ability to set priorities, develop a work schedule, monitor progress towards goals and track engagement. Strong creative abilities, innovative and forward thinking. Establish and maintain productive relationships with students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends of MSU.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
No unusual physical requirements. Requires limited lifting of files and records and nearly all work is performed in a comfortable indoor facility. Frequent- External imposed deadlines; set and revised beyond one's control; interruptions influence priorities; difficult to anticipate nature or volume of work with certainty beyond a few days; meeting of deadlines and coordination of unrelated activities are key to position; involves conflict-resolution or similar interactions involving emotional issues or stress on a regular basis. Job frequently requires walking, sitting, reaching, talking, hearing, handling objects with hands.
