The Communication and Outreach Coordinator provides administrative and project support for outreach initiatives and serves as a critical point of contact for program inquiries. The Coordinator will manage all aspects of internal and external communications as well as support the day-to-day administrative, financial and operational functions of the department by working collaboratively and independently with faculty, staff, students and serve as a primary point of contact for alumni, University and community partners and other constituents with whom the department interacts in accordance with all department and university policies and procedures and utilizing university resources and technology.
The incumbent also serves as an administrative support for the faculty director both for Center duties and other executive administrative assignments. In conjunction with the Center manager, the assistant will participate in the development, publicizing, and logistics of program events, web design and maintenance, social media communications, and the creation of promotional and media materials.
The Coordinator provides planning and logistical support for program outreach and development to include international conferences, lectures, seminars, and meetings. The Coordinator will facilitates events associated with invited speakers and guests, alumni, faculty, staff, and students at Brown University, vendors, program stakeholders, and University events management to ensure that events are appropriately supported and that visitor requirements are met.
Education and Experiences:
Associate Degree and 2-3 years related experience, or the equivalent combination of experience and education; bachelorâ™s degree preferred.
Experience in a diverse academic setting preferred and familiarity with and an interest in the humanities and social sciences highly desirable.
Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign) or other graphic design/print publication/video editing applications.
Familiarity with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and experience with or aptitude to learn Evernote, Constant Contact, and/or other information-organizing software.
Proficient website and social media skills and experience.
The ability to independently develop and implement short- and long-term goals.
Attention to detail and excellent organization skills.
Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing with the ability to elicit and communicate information in a clear, informative, and concise manner.
Comfort dealing with a wide range of people (students, faculty, managers, directors, artists, etc).
Ability to handle multiple, ongoing projects with varying deadlines and diverse stakeholders.
Strong interactive skills and ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues.
Demonstrated ability to support a community of diverse perspectives and cultures in an inclusive environment.Â
