The Graphic Designer provides planning, design and production services to the College’s Marketing and Communications team, including the creation of artwork for print and digital publications, paid advertising, video production and web creative.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: • Participate in all Marketing and Communications team planning sessions where client needs are discussed and marketing communication solutions are developed. • Work directly with marketing managers to understand client needs and delivery timelines. • Ensure all designs across the institution meet brand standards. • Plan, conceptualize and complete graphic designs for individual projects and integrated marketing campaigns. • Produce print or digital-ready materials including but not limited to email headers, Google Ad and social media paid and organic creative, web assets, reports, booklets, print advertisements, brochures, flyers and more. • Work with vendors, design services and other suppliers; write all specifications for printing and promotional materials, bids, quotes, etc. • Approve final designs, creative and concepts after they have been submitted to the printer. • Work with Web Services to ensure continuity in Web and print communications and to protect and enhance the College’s brand identity. • Stay abreast of best practices in design for web, print and digital channels. • Consult with clients as needed and make recommendations related to design, ideas, approaches and cost. • Other duties as assigned.
Related Duties: • Take the lead in assuring that the team employs current design tools and techniques, such as Web and electronic communications, and take the initiative to get trained in all appropriate new technologies.
Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Art, Advertising or related field. • Experience with software used in the design and production of printed and digital materials including Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, PhotoShop, Illustrator, etc.) • Equivalent five (5) years full-time successful work experience in professional graphic design in a higher education, agency, corporate, freelance or other setting. • Knowledge of advertising and marketing disciplines as demonstrated through work experience, formal education or training. • Excellent customer service and communication skills to interact effectively with diverse audiences. • Ability and willingness to work in a fast-paced environment, to manage multiple projects, competing priorities and tight deadlines. • Strong organizational, planning and project management skills with impeccable attention to detail. • Exceptional team player and collaborator.
Additional Preferred Qualifications: • Ability to assess printers and their products and evaluate printed materials for adherence to specifications. • Experience with project management and digital asset management software.
