The Marketing and Communications team at The Winsor School provides a portfolio of integrated marketing services including strategy development and planning, print and digital programs, media and public relations, social media, website, and e-communications. We tell the Winsor story to increase engagement, enrollment, and achieve the school’s broader goals and mission.
The Visual Designer is responsible for graphically bringing campaigns and creative assets (digital and print) for the school community to life and meeting timely deadlines. A complete understanding of graphic design, typography, and digital best practices is as essential as the experience to execute a variety of creative deliverables to the highest standards.
REPORTS TO: Director of Marketing and Communications
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
Create high-quality digital deliverables, demonstrating the ability to balance design aesthetics with technical capabilities and limitations, considering UX research and data to inform wireframes, prototypes, and designs.
Work closely with copywriters, developers, and other team members to produce a strategic, team-driven final product that leads to an exceptional user experience.
Conceptualize and create designs that align with the school's visual identity guidelines. This position will include, but will not be limited to, designing digital and print materials, user interface designs, webpages, social media graphics, emails, and video assets.
Be in tune with innovative trends in digital design and usability to move projects forward and improve personal professional development as well as technical knowledge of team members.
Collaborate across the marketing and communications team to raise the standards of digital creativity and innovation.
Manage and organize the library of print and digital assets, including photography. Support on-campus photography as needed.
Own the role of a brand ambassador by providing feedback, knowledge, and support to school partners, student interns, and others.
Bachelor's degree in design or similar field with a minimum of five to seven years of related professional experience.
Strong knowledge of brand development and the creative process with proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat, and Microsoft Office.
Strong working knowledge of a CMS (preferably Blackbaud) as well as wireframing design tools. Ability to articulate aesthetic and visual design principles and how they meet marketing goals.
Strong understanding of HTML, CSS, content management systems, and other core web technologies.
Ability to manage and interface with other creative agencies and web/print vendors to bring large-scale projects to completion.
Present, share, and explain design directions (and rationale behind design decisions) in a thoughtful, and compelling manner.
Excellent team player with a proactive approach and solid organizational skills and attention to detail.
